I read the sample and was glad the twins wound up in such a joyful situation after their adoption. It doesn't always turn out that way. The review was excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

I don't like memoirs as a genre, majorly because I am very uncomfortable looking into private thoughts and deeply personal cherished memories. In this case, I am also a bit envious because it is a story of a big family and people who took such care and responsibility saving those kids from the system. Apologies, I will have to pass this book, but I would like to congratulate the author with BOTD!

The twins were born under seemingly unfair circumstances. I hope to see how they navigate their lives with their adoptive family and real family.

Twice the Family" by Julie Ryan McGue, a book that features twins girls and their bonding . It will be interesting to read about how they were able to cope when apart and the trainings their parents gave to them. This is a book to read.

What a heartwarming review. I'm intrigued to know more about the twin's background and relationship, their relationship with their adoptive parents, the challenges and inner conflict they faced as adopted children and the parent's navigation of raising them. Thank you for the review.

Twice the Family is a great memoir about the author's life and family. The author and her twin were adopted and this book gives readers a glimpse into her life and family. I'd love to read about the author's family because they seem quite warm and loving. Congratulations on making botd!

“Twice the Family - A Memoir of Love, Loss, and Sisterhood” by Julie Ryan McGue is a story about twin girls that were born to an unwed mother in Chicago on February 11, 1959. The babies were cared for by The Daughters of Charity and the St. Vincent’s Orphanage until Jeanne and Jack Ryan adopted the twins at the St Vincent Children’s Home on March 6, 1959. They named the girls Julie Ann and Jenny Ann and this story also covers the twins’ own families. Julie Ann had incredible writing skills and she is the author of this book. While then twins disagreed with the Ryans at times the twins assisted their mother with chores and caring for the younger siblings which brought the family closer together. Jeanne and Jack loved each other through the good and bad times and they set a wonderful example of a strong marriage for their children. This is a heartwarming story of a well-functioning happy family. While Julie Ann is listed as the author, she is proud of the help she received when writing the book by her sister Jenny Ann and mom Jeanne contributed to the book. The book truly deserves the 5 out of 5-star rating and I am adding the book to my to-read shelf.

It's great to read about adopted children having the best of their lives with their foster parents. I believe this book teaches about how to raise a family in love and grow in relationship with one another. Congratulations to the author.

Thank you for such a thoughtful and well-articulated review. I found it particularly moving when you pointed out how the author handled sensitive topics like grief and remarriage with such emotional depth and care. Your observation that the story avoids over-dramatizing the challenges of blending families really stood out to me—it’s refreshing to know the book presents those dynamics in a realistic and compassionate way. I also appreciated your mention of the pacing and how the character development kept the story grounded. It’s clear from your review that Twice the Family offers both heart and substance, and I’m genuinely looking forward to reading it. Great job capturing the spirit of the book without giving too much away!
