Such a nice review, it has everything I could ask for before reading this book. Very comprehensive summary, thank you. Im not surprised anymore when it turns out the Church manipulated the truth, I think the author of this book is being kind by saying it was only a matter of misinterpretation. I think it’s very likely this was done on purpose. Anyhow, definitely an interesting topic to gain knowledge on. Fantastic review!

The death of Jesus is an argument that carry lot of controversy in some religious faith. Wahler argument partly resonates with the Islamic Faith that Jesus didn't die as compared to the New Testament Bible that claim the death of Jesus.
However, more evidences are required beyond the reasoning and interpretation of wahler.
Thanks to the reviewer.

This review really piqued my interest Misreading Judas sounds like a bold and thought-provoking take on a story we've all been taught to see one way. I’m intrigued by Wahler’s use of Eastern mysticism to reinterpret Judas’s role and the idea of mastership succession. Whether or not one agrees with his conclusions, it seems like an important contribution to the ongoing conversation about how we understand early Christian history and spiritual traditions. Definitely adding this to my reading list!

It seems like a book with a refreshing perspective. The people interested in the the topic of Jesus and Judas would enjoy this book and will witness an unique point of view. However, this book is not for me as religious read is not my kind of read. Nonetheless, this book is great.

"Misreading Judas" by Robert Wahler challenges the biblical telling of Judas. It questions the relationship between Jesus and Judas and puts a whole new spin on what happened. It questions the Gnostic version and introduces a Eastern mysticism retelling of Judas's story. This book is sure to appeal to Biblical followers as well as any one curious to here a new take on Jesus and Judas, Great BOTD.

The foundation of the Christian faith is the incarnation of God the Word for the redemption of humanity on the cross, which was a curse at that time for the punishment of the sinner. As God, in His justice, established the law from the beginning, which is that the wages of sin is death, He is the only one capable of redeeming us all. There is no one like Christ to be crucified or merely to be a messenger; no human can save the world. Therefore, out of His great love for His creation, the Creator incarnated to redeem us. There are no documented historical foundations for the Gospel of Judas, unlike the Gospels of the Holy Scriptures, which the disciples and apostles wrote. These writings contain ideas that contradict Christian thought, based on opinions and suspicions that demonstrate a lack of understanding of the depth of Christian faith. Christ is God manifest in the flesh, He is the Word made flesh for our salvation.

Misreading Judas is not a light read, nor is it intended for those seeking affirmation of traditional Christian beliefs. It is a challenging and intense work that demands an open mind and a willingness to engage with complex, unconventional arguments.

'Wahler asserts the story of Judas was not a betrayal and sacrifice of Jesus at all but rather a self-sacrifice by Judas as part of the Gnostic tradition called mastership succession.'
Since I believe otherwise, that would stop me from reading this book.

This review really shows how much research went into Misreading Judas. It’s interesting that the author connects Judas to self-sacrifice and not betrayal, and even says he might be the same person as James the Just. The idea of Jesus being one of many spiritual Masters challenges a lot of traditional beliefs. Sounds like a thought-provoking read, especially for those open to new views on biblical history.

This book is a religious book, but not a Christian book. From a Biblical New Testament worldview, Gnosticism is false and heretical belief system. I believe the Bible is the truth. I also know there are other valid, documented writings from this time. The Book of Judas is dated back to appx. 280 AD. Wahler takes both the Bible and The Book of Judas and evaluates and interprets them from the view of a mystic, a non-Christian interpretation. As a Christian, I would not recommend this book to other Christians, not because the book is "bad" but spending the time and effort to read it and knowing I will completely disagree with Wahler's premise even at the end, I would prefer to spend that time reading something I enjoyed.

"Misreading Judas" sounds wild! It's about a whole new take on Jesus and Judas, suggesting Judas's "betrayal" was actually a Gnostic self-sacrifice. This challenges so much traditional belief; it's incredibly thought-provoking and definitely has me curious. Congrats BOTD!

What a thought-provoking concept! The idea that Judas's role might have been a form of mystical self-sacrifice rather than betrayal is intriguing. It challenges traditional narratives and offers a fresh perspective on early Christian history. Definitely adding this to my reading list to explore these interpretations further.

Wow this review really opened my eyes! I didn't know about the Gnostic perspective on Judas. The idea that his actions were actually self sacrifice instead of betrayal is kinda mind blowing. Thanks for explaining it so clearly, def adding this book to my list.
