I'm a big fan of romance novels, but I will have to pass on this book due to the use of strong language and sexual content. Thank you for the review.

"Ride the Winds of Whatever" is a catchy title, and I am asking myself what a hobo and a pianist could have in common, as it is an unusual pairing. I believe this review describes a historical novel I am bound to love.

Marc and Christina seems to have had quite the experience in their bid to deliver Donovan's message to Stalin.

The novel's vivid descriptions, realistic portrayal of the wartime atmosphere and fleshed-out characters would appeal to readers who enjoy well-written historical novels.

This sounds like a fascinating historical thriller. The premise of a global hobo and a pianist covertly delivering a critical message to Stalin amid heightened wartime surveillance is incredibly intriguing. I'm curious to see how Marc and Christina navigate such a dangerous mission.

It is good to read that both the descriptions and setting are excellent, but more importantly this is a historical fiction book and I am an ardent reader of the same. My curiosity is piqued to know how Marc and Christina would be able to fight against, people who would most likely be, trained killers. Thank you, @Jane Ogwang, for the review.

I agree, the descriptions were vivid. Even in the first or second paragraph of the entire book. It started off strong, and it continued to be! With the genre and plot, I think this book is right up my alley.

Thanks for the detailed review. I like how you explained the mix of war, spy work, and romance in the story. The contrast between Christina’s toughness and Marc’s calm approach sounds interesting, and I appreciate you pointing out the pacing of their relationship. Also good to know it’s for mature readers.

"Ride the Winds of Whatever" by Michael John Cruit is a story about WWII that begins in 1941 when the new head of U.S. Intelligence Wild Bill Donovan needs to get a message to Joseph Stalin regarding Hitler’s plan to capture Russia. Donovan decides to get the message to Stalin via a low-key manner. He selects Marc Fletcher and Christina Orlov, a concert pianist and Molotov’s godchild who volunteered to deliver the message directly to Stalin. Because of the war and politics at the time, there was heightened surveillance throughout their routes across France where the two had several escapades and experiences where they had to camouflage, lie, fight, and survive to get the message to Stalin. This book is a page-turner that was hard to put down. Marc and Christina had excellent backstories. Christina was new to the spy game and her naiveite fit well with Marc’s spy and adventure experience. Marc had a very calm demeaner with a desire to avoid confrontation that aligned well with Christina’s fighting skills. Even though they were complete strangers their cover story was Russian newlyweds taking their honeymoon across a Nazi-occupied France. Their relationship evolves into romance which made their cover story even more believable. The sample was a very detailed and exciting read that included all of the UK and U.S. intelligence hierarchy and the dangerous train ride and checkpoints through Nazi occupied France. While the book is historical fiction it is so well written that being a history buff I cannot wait to read the entire book.
