Hello from Frederick Maryland

Post by FrederickGirl »

Hi everybody, I'm Judy from Frederick Maryland.
I love to read but I'm here to learn how to be a better writer.
I just changed careers and I'm an intern (that means I don't get paid much)

I'm supposed to learn how to write advertising copy, my boss wants me to write ad copy as if it was a novel, he says "write a blog post like you were telling a story". I'm here to get a background on various writing styles.

My boss says to just "lurk" (not totally sure exactly what that means yet).

So please forgive me if I ask dumb questions.

Our current task is to write "stories" about a restaurant equipment company, I'm drawing a blank as to how I'd go about making commercial kitchen equipment compelling.

Welcome Judy

Lurk or lurking is a term used on the internet meaning to read internet forums (like this site), but not actually posting.

Kinda like lurking in the shadows.

Though as long as your boss doesn't care I don't think posting would be a bad plan and it'll allow you to ask questions like the question you've already asked.

thanks, I'm supposed to get a background on many aspects of blogging, I'm told blogging can help me be a better writer.

I'm very self conscious about this, my boss says there is copy writing and story telling. This forum it seems is filled with book writers, I'm out of my league here.

My boss says I've only got to be creative for a paragraph or two, I'm to write captions and summaries. But he'd like it if what write reads like a story. so I'm here to see how it's done.
