Also, if a book is known to have an unhappy or sort of good, but not really happy kind of ending, then I'll skip it. For new series or authors I'm not sure of, I try to go on Goodreads and scope out without reading too many spoilers what the reactions are to the ending. If people seem satisfied or the book has multiple high ratings, I'll give it a try. Satisfying and positive-feeling endings are important to me. I'm a type of person that I become involved with the plot and characters a lot. So a bad ending makes me very, very grumpy.
