Atlas Shrugged – I started it, then set it aside because I got distracted by so many other things. If I am reading that book, I need absolute quiet.

I have hundreds of books that I have bought, that I have still to read. I believe it is a disease. I see a book I want, knowing that I have piles still to read and yet still I buy it. I had always thought it would be part of my retirement plan.

I counted them the other day, they're like 25 :-S I should have made a new year's resolution out of not buying new books this year. Would have broken it by now anyway

Although I just recently started filling my book shelf, I buy a lot of books at once and never finish reading the whole stack before buying a bunch of new books again. Thanks to amazons deals (if you buy 25$ worth of stuff you get free shipping) I always buy at least 25$ worth of books and that doesn't sound like much but I'll get at least 5-6 books.

How long have you got? Ovid's Metamorphoses, Anna Karenina, Tristram Shandy, The Decameron...
Life is one long attempt to make this list a handful of books shorter.

Absolutely, it is a sickness. I just counted 45 on my shelves that are TBR. Most are classics or recommendations from other people. My dad is the worst at this. Every time he goes to the Goodwill or a used book store he buys a sack full of paperbacks. He has literally boxes of unread books in the basement that I doubt any of us will ever read. But we need them. Just in case.

I would get writer's cramp (okay, a carpal tunnel syndrome flare-up) before I could list all the books I have in my possession that I have yet to read.

I have a lot sitting on the top of my armoire. This includes Les Miserables, The Complete Collection of Sherlock Holmes, Life of Pi, and The Jungle! Hopefully I can read them all this summer :)

Tip the Bottle wrote:You don't know how happy it makes me to know that many people buy books and have them sit on shelves. I'm a bookstore junkie, every Sunday night I can be found in one of our local B&N or Borders drinking coffee and perusing the book shelves. Oddly enough I always find a book I'd like to read then I think "But I have so many" and then "If I don't buy it I'll forget about this one". So I have bookshelves with unread books that I have every intention of read so long as I figure out how to extend my time above dirt indefinitely.
Yeap! It makes me happy too because I do the same thing all the time!

I am ashamed to admit the number of books that I have but haven't read yet. Now that I gave bookbub I add more to the list every day, knowing that I already have enough to get me through the rest of the year.

I bought A Crack In The Line a while ago, and I still have yet to pick it up and actually read it. I keep finding myself grabbing books around it on the bookshelf.

My tbr shelf is getting to be as big as my regular shelf. Of course, I already have a list of other books I need to read soon too. It is so endless!

TBR list of books on my shelf

Tell the Wolves I am Home
Alchemyst (immortal life of nicholas flimmel)
Graceling
Inkheart
Splintered
Prodigy
Witch's Daughter
Unhinged

Books I was told I should buy next
100 years of solitude
Wuthering Heights
Kite Runner
1984

and of course the endless books I want to read.

I loved the Life of Pi! I thought I was going to be turned off by the religious aspects. I claim no religion. However, this book stole my heart and it is great.
