I get distracted easily so I don't like music playing while I'm reading.

As much as I love music and reading, unfortunately, I have to have almost complete silence in order to read and actually comprehend what I'm reading. I'm not really sure what has made me that way, but I remember it being even worse when I was younger. I guess I can say I'm glad it has gotten better over time. :)

I can read with music if it is soft instrumental, then again I would still prefer silence or a faint humming.

I prefer to get lost in the book so I try to have few distractions if any. I love music and its a completely different experience for me than reading a book. Those are two experiences I prefer to keep separate. It's funny cause I can read with no problem with people around or even with the tv on but I cannot listen to music when reading.
All I need is a new book and a place to read it...

I prefer silence but if I waited for a time when everything was silent I'd never get any reading in my day with my boys. So I can usually read with any noise other than someone trying to talk to me directly. But I find that orchestrated music helps my focus when I'm trying to keep track of a story I'm reading.

As weird as it may seem, I love listening to musicals (i.e. Les Miserables and PHANTOM OF THE OPERA!!!!!) while I read. It's a double dose of AWESOMENESS!!

There is always lots of background noise going on in my life. Kids playing, traffic noise, kids fighting, radio playing, kids being annoying, low flying airplanes, and all the other noises of daily life. So if there is music in the background when I find a spare second to read, I read with music in the background. If there are other noises, then those are the background sounds for my book.

I thought I was the only person in the world who did this! Yes, I like listening to classical music while I read. It just helps me zone out all the different distraction around the room so that I can concentrate on what I'm reading.

I don't normally listen to music while I am reading. I find it to be a big distraction.

I prefer to read without music. It's nice and all, but if I'm reading a books I'm really into, I don't want to get distracted by music which would have me reread the same paragraph for five minutes.

I have tried to play music while I read/do school work. It does not work for me at all. I need complete silence. I do not even want to hear a fan.

I try to read when my bf watches tv. It is so difficult because I get too distracted and read the same sentence over and over again.

I do but only sometimes. Other times I will get distracted and start paying more attention to the song instead of the book.

No because I can't concentrate on what I'm reading.

No I dont. I love to read I silence and I dont want people walking up and down talking to me while I'm reading either. I remember my sister being able to study while listening to her pop music...I needed silence and to be on my own.
