What faction would you have chosen at 16?

Hm, interesting question. I think, like a lot of people here, I would have grown up in (and probably chosen) Erudite. Not a huge surprise that there are so many potential Erudites in an online book discussion group. ;-)

However, this brings up an interesting subject. Aren't most people actually Divergent? I mean, who can say what any given person is going to do in a simulation? Why would they only do one of two to four things? Maybe this idea is developed further in the other two books of the trilogy, which I haven't read yet.

I think that my family would have been Candor. With the exception of my sister, my parents and grandparents are exceedingly honest almost to the point of brutality. As for me, I'm not sure which faction I would have chosen. I think that I either would have stayed with Candor, because I inherited that straightforwardly honest trait, or Erudite, due to my love of education. The only thing that would keep me from the Erudite is their seeming focus on science which is not my particular realm of knowledge. I think I would have been happy staying in Candor with others who are also honest. I find the lack of conviction or dishonest behavior in a lot of people to be frustrating and incomprehensible most times.

Easily, Erudite.

I am inquisitive and always thirsty for knowledge. I had a telescope and a microscope at the age of 9. I read the encyclopedia for fun when I was a child.

I read all the time and I love to do my own research on carious topics.

Without a doubt I am an Erudite inside and out.

I would maybe have chosen either Candor or Erudite. Actually, I don't know. All the factions have some part of my characteristics. Except Dauntless, I am not brave or fearless, and I know it =)

At the age of 16 I would have chosen Dauntless. At that age most kids are daring, careless, and like to have fun. This was the perception that I had of the Dauntless, before I realized what initiation was like. It still seemed like the most exciting faction despite the fact that many did not live to get old.

I probably would have been born into Amity but it would probably be a split between Erudite and Candor at 16. It'd be too hard to choose between those two though as I hold honesty and intelligence equally as qualities in my life.

I'm guessing I would have been born into Erudite or Amity. Probably Erudite, if I'm being honest. I would almost definitely have chosen Erudite at 16, because I loved learning (still do!), though I was a bit ready to break out of my shell and might have been sort of interested in Dauntless, but unless I had someone to push me towards it, I almost certainly wouldn't have gone that direction. I think that Erudite would have been a decent decision, but as I've grown older, I realize Amity is more where I'd fit in. I would have become Factionless or dead on Day 1 if I'd impulsively chosen Dauntless. I definitely think 16 is way too young to make a decision that will guide the rest of your life. Thinking back on what I valued and did at 16, I realize now that I had very little awareness of what impact my actions had on my future.

I actually have no idea, as I feel I can relate to more than one fraction at a more or less equal level.. I'd probably be a Divergent!

I probably would have been born in Amity. However, at 16 I was all about the truth and would have certainly chosen Candor. Most likely, I would have regretted this decision as I got older and would be secretly wanting to be in Erudite or Dauntless. What's that say about me? The grass is always greener on the other side of the hill.

I would have been born into Amity. I'm another church kid here and maintaining that pleasant expression was important to us.

I'm really not sure where I would have chosen. My gut says Erudite. At 16 school and learning was very important to me. Deep down, I would have been Divergent.

I would have chosen Candor, because I always speak my mind. My group of friends discussed this very question once and they all said they see me as Candor before I even got a chance to answer.

I think I would have chosen Dauntless at 16. When I was a teenager my mother had breast cancer and soon there after she passed away. I think I would have chosen Dauntless because I always thought myself as being brave and being a person that was fearless. When I was a teenager I was especially reckless and starting getting tattoos as soon as I could. I definitely see myself joining that faction. Now, maybe Erudite because I think that knowledge is really power.

Throughout my schooling, I was always on or near the top of my class, so I bet it's obvious which faction I would be in. My parents are also fairly well-educated, so I think I would be Erudite born, and stay Erudite. However, I would really like to become Dauntless, but after finding out you get kicked out when you start to physically decline, I knew I would rather stay Erudite  .

My family have always placed a big emphasis education so it'd most likely be Erudite for me! I love to learn and to share my knowledge with others so I think I'd fit easily here.
