How long can you read in one sitting?

I always mute the ads on the t.v. so I read in between them and as t.v. adverts are now 5 minutes long before the programme resumes, I can read about 15 - 20 minutes in any one hour or if it's a t.v. movie, even longer!!

If I have nothing to do all day and the book is brilliant, then I would absolutely finish it in one sitting. But since its only in my dreams will I ever be that free;), then 1 hour maximum in one sitting.

If left alone, I can read hours upon hours, longest I have read at one time 12 hours, read the book cover to cover. My eyes hurt and I had a headache afterward, but I enjoyed every moment. Normally I will read 2-3 hours at a time.

5hrs or more if I'm in the zone or can't sleep, I've bought a book at midnight only to finish it a couple hours later.

Depends on the book. Several hours if it's engrossing.

I have been known to read a book cover to cover. I believe the longest time was around 9 hours.

I can read for hours. I have read all night even knowing I had to get up the next morning. There are just some books that you must finish.

If I could, I would read non-stop, all the time. But i'm always interrupted by my family. The most i've gone is five hours though, before i was told to eat.

I rarely ever give a book past the first chapter to gain my interest - therefore I'm only reading books that interest me. So I can read for hours and hours until either life gets in the way or I fall asleep mid-sentence. My longest session was about 14 hours to finish one book and read the next one in the series.

If I'm interested in a book I can read for 2 hours or more it depends on the book.

I typically can sit through the whole book depending on how interesting it is. This sometimes ranges on how long the book is. I've sat for hours since the book was pretty thick to finish and I couldn't bring myself to set it down. The only times I stop reading is because real life intrudes.

I can usually read for hours without much of a break except the obvious one (bathroom, drinks) but sometimes I find some books so emotionally draining that I can only read a very small bit at a time. The Road was one of the books that I could only read for short periods. It actually took me a moth to finish a book that should have take me 2 days at most. This is my first post!

I'm so sad that I've got out of the habit of getting completely lost in a good book. I can read in half hour segments. But because I'm a writer, I'm looking up words I don't know, studying and learning from the book. It makes it a bit of a chore! I'm just going to read my next book and enjoy it! The way I do it is removing some of the pleasure. Glad this post came up and I will revise my reading habits as a result! I can absorb it all by osmosis!

I generally read 3 to 4 hours at a time, with little breaks in-between.

If I have nowhere to be I could read all day, stopping only for nourishment and the bathroom. A few months ago I had a roughly 16 hr. reading binge on a Sat. where I cracked out several books one right after the other, stopping only for the things I just mentioned. Lazy Sat.'s like that are very rare though.
