I liked Divergent however the explanation of the different factions should have had a little more attention. It was better than Insurgent which I was unable to finish since it had too much going on at once.

I wanted to like Divergent because I loved the story-line, but found some characters where left under-developed and I occasionally found it a little boring.

I really liked it. The entire faction choosing ceremony really spoke to me and drew me in. I particularly like dauntless for the work past your fears mentality as fear is something I struggle with alot. It was a fairly simple book plot wise but I don't really read it for the plot but for all the other details. I'm not sure if anyone else does this too. I recommended it to all my friends and family and they all loved the series as well. It is just an all round great book.

I liked Divergent. I loved the different factions, and the ability to choose your path. I simply adored the time we spent in dauntless. It really spoke to having a strong female main character. The only thing I didn't like was the ending. I'm going to revisit the book a little later to see if I change my mind, but it really disappointed me for some reason.

Great series. I would definitely recommend it. I'm only upset with how it ended but it was an overall amazing series. :D

Maggie Q looks cool in the movie. When does it come out on Netflix?

I think that overall it was a wonderful book! I loved the whole after-destruction-dystopian world that the author created. I loved the characters and the emotion thy the author conveys through each character.

I gotta say that even though the author tried to play coy with Four's feelings for Tris, it was rather obvious and kind of annoying how ignorant she played to the fact thy most of the time he was protecting her or fighting his feelings for her. I found myself yelling at her to wake up and understand... And then finally at the resolution going "See? I figured this out chapters ago!". I really am not a fan of the obvious being ignored. If you are going to hide it, let it be a real surprise. Her innocence didn't come off as innocence, but as a young girl with anger issues completely misunderstanding rather than enjoying some nice flirty cat and mouse.

For example when he cuts her ear. Sure, I would have been angry, but after what he says to her I would have enjoyed it more if she would have been less brash and more witty. Granted she wanted to be tough for her faction, it just came off (maybe it was the way it was written) as a bit bumpy versus a good flow.

Divergent was good, but the final book made my opinion of the series go down a lot.

Divergent is one of my favorite series, I just love the messages it conveys, the characters, and the storyline. Also, I have so much respect for Veronica for being the published author of a successful and talked-about series at such a young age, I look forward to reading her upcoming works.

But, I think some deaths were unnecessary and I'm not talking about the one you think I'm talking about.

I absolutely loved Divergent, and the entire series! I finished it all in two and a half days! I couldn't stop! I've recommended it to all of m friends already, I needed no prompting!
And quite surprisingly, the movie wasn't a complete mess, I enjoyed it, and brought a friend who hadn't read the book along with me, and she equally enjoyed it!

I would give Divergent 4 stars. I think the writing was done very well and had a great storyline. I really liked how the author developed the characters and we were able to get a better understanding of them and why they chose their factions. I think there was a good pace set to the book and did not drag on. Really enjoyed and look forward to reading the rest of the series.

I began reading Divergent after finishing Mockingjay (Hunger Games #3) a few years ago as I was craving a similar book. I am really glad I came across this book which is, to me, the best in the trilogy. You get to discover the dystopian world that Tris and Four live in, in which the population is divided in 5 factions according to their dispositions. This book was so engrossing ! Once I started reading it, I just couldn't put it down (I can't say the same for the 2nd and 3rd book of the trilogy).
I just loved the book and the universe that V. Roth created. The characters are profonds but this doesn't mean that you love or agree with them. In fact, I disliked Tris more and more as the story progressed. She always seemed to make rash decisions without taking into account the feelings of her loved ones. Although you did see her mature at the end of Insurgent.
I recommend this book for anybody who likes dystopian YA books as it is a engaging story with compelling character and a beautiful love story.

I enjoyed Divergent, it was a book on my to-read list for many months before I picked it up. I loved the ideas of the factions, and the serum induced hallucinations. It was very much Uglies meets Dreamfall:The longest Journey. Tris was very relatable to a lot of girls, we are told to hold back our emotions and put others needs above our own, so her struggles with not feeling like Abnegation was a true fit was understandable. I loved watching Tris break out through this book.
Four felt a little too cookie-cutter for me in the beginning. It got better but initially I rolled my eyes at this likely love pairing, but the rest of the story was so good I ignored it.
The initiation processes and the ominous warnings from various people in the story kept me awake late at night to finish this book because as soon as you think the story is winding down a bit, you get a new nugget of a hint that keeps you hooked and turning pages.
I've always loved conspiracy stories, and I read all three books. I really enjoyed the self-assessments Tris makes of herself the last two books. It made her more of a real person with real and raw flaws. I will say that I deeply regretted the last few chapters of Allegiant, however. That shouldn't be legal!
