Yea ... I go along with your assessment .... I also enjoyed "The Weight of Water" but I would put "Testimony" way up there!

I really enjoyed "A Wedding In December" and hope to read more of her books soon. Perhaps "Testimony" should be next on the list for me!

I read All He Ever Wanted. It is the only book of hers that I have read. To be honest I didn't like it that much and probably won't read any of her other books.

The only Anita Shreve I have read and have in my collection is "Testimony". I think it is a brilliant book and really loved it. I am considering buying "A Change in Altitude" It sounds really good.

I've read Anita's Light on Snow, All He Ever Wanted, Fortune's Rocks and I'm reading Body Surfing. Ain't she amazing? I mean, All He Ever Wanted is the poorest, followed by Light On Snow, but what about Fortune's Rock? I'm only 20 years old but I must've read something like 300 books by now, since I was 12. Fortune's Rocks, which I read when I was 14, still is my favorite book of all. It's about a teenage (15) that fells for an older man (41), married and father of 4 - and we are in 1890, if I'm not mistaken.

She's so amazing while describing the feelings of Olympia, the reacting of John Haskell, the love blooming between them! I'll never forget the small things she describes that've been like a thousand times through our minds but we never cared to notice. After one night Olympia dreams of Haskell, she wakes up the next day thinking something unforgetable like:

«When we dream of someone and we wake up and see him the next day, it gives an ilusion of intimacy that doesn't exist».

And it still talks to me today.

I agree I thought testimony was a brilliant read, I couldn't put it down finished the book in 3 days. I have been considering another book by her but there's to many to choose from. What do you reckon guys which one next?

I would love to start this discussion up again! Anita Shreve is a wonderful writer and her books are not formulaic at all (which I appreciate because there are so many). I love how they will tie in together in subtle ways. .. Read The Weight Of Water then The Last Time They Met, I was definitely in tears with all the surprises at the end!! Body surfing takes place in the same house on the beach where many of her other novels take place. I love when authors create a world that is so real like this!
