All and all Greensboro, North Carolina is not a bad place. I have relatives who have lived there for decades and love the town. However, my wife and I stayed in a motel there one night while waiting for our flight home to California. We had been playing golf at Pinehurst and drove into Greensboro late in the afternoon. We didn't have much to choose from, since we did not have a reservation. We opted for the Days Inn, because we had stayed in one of their inns in another town. The room looked all right when we entered, but soon we started smelling laundry soap, and the carpet was getting drenched. I went to the front desk to see what the problem was and to see if we could move to another room. The answer was no. A main had burst in the laundry room at one end of the motel and all of the rooms on the first floor were flooded, Since our room was the last farthest away from the laundry, we were the last to get flooded, and all of the rooms on the second floor were now taken. We called around to other hotels, and there was not a room to be had. We were stuck in the drowned room. After getting used to the smell of detergent, we finally got to sleep. By morning, however, the carpet was completely soaked. We had all of the towels and bedding on the floor, so that we could walk around without getting our feet wet. Next time we go to Greensboro, we will have reservations, for a room on the second floor.

I stayed in a motel one time in Salt lake. It was a ratty place but was cheap. Everything that went in the toilet came up in the shower. They put us in another room, but it was the same problem. Tree roots had got into their sewer line and stopped everything up. The guy was cool about it, gave us our money back and said come again. Dont think so.

Buenos noches, Suzy. It was pretty crappy, thats for sure.

I need your expertise. The book Ive been reading mentions stuffed baked tomatoes. Do you know what they are? they sound good.

They're one of my fave things! I'd discovered them when I was in France many years ago...at the time they accompanied most every entrée , sort of like a " garnish ", like how we'd have pickles on the plate...

Don't let the fact that I mentioned "France " intimidate you, this is not only SCRUMPTIOUS, but so EASY that a child could do it...
All you need is a beautiful ripe tomato ( and you're in the right place for that )...

STUFFED TOMATOES

Combine the following ingredients for the Stuffing:.....

Breadcrumbs, parsley, parmesan cheese, finely minced onions, celery garlic, some olive oil, + I raw egg to bind the whole thing together, and whatever herbs /seasonings you prefer,..... I'm thinking cilantro would be good too..put it in the oven until the top is brown and bubbling...optional: sometimes I add cheese on the top, tomato sauce, or salsa piquante, or salsa verde, etc... btw, great for any leftover veggies you may have, just mince finally and add to the " stuffing mixture ", ( peppers, zucchini, and corn work well )

I love an " uncooked " cold version also...stuff a tomato w/tuna salad, last week I had one w/shrimp salad, DELICIOUS! top it w/your fave salad dressing, place it on a bed of lettuce and Listo, there' a complete meal w/protein and all...

P.S.Don't forget to scoop out the tomato in either version, chop finely and add back to the " mixture "...I've even used leftover rice as part of the stuffing ( along w/the bread crumbs to hold it together )

Enjoy!

Your very welcome B.H.! I ENVY YOU THOSE TOMATOES OVER THERE!

last good ones I had were some yellow ones from my daughter's garden, and one from my supermarket that were from Mexico! I forgot the name but they had a weird coloration, ( sorta brown in spots , but not " rotten " brown, more like an " Heirloom ", my fave, have you seen anything of that description there ? )

Next summer I must grow tomatoes!

Unless you absolutely love Native American art, Sedona, Arizona is a complete waste of time. Yes the scenery is awesome, so if you know some wealthy people you can go visit for a couple of days, that's fine, but don't pay for an over-priced stay there. Rock formations and pine trees. There are plenty of places in the West with you can enjoy those.

They dont have a lot of flavor, thats for sure.

I like Moscow tomatoes. They are canning tomatoes with a very strong acidic flavor.
