It's a murder mystery with Sigmund Freud as one of the characters. The murder story is interwoven with Freud's actual visit to America. There are some real people featuring in the book and some fictional too. It involves a lot of psycho-analysis. The concept of mixing real and fiction, using real characters in the book is good, but the story itself gets complicated and messy in the end.
Oh I so loved that book

Just finished The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton, I'm giving it 5 notches on the bed post. I love reading historical fiction, but I especially love reading something that was actually written almost a century ago. Such a different feeling is evoked when something is so authentic.

I just finished Crime and Punishment by Dostoevsky. I give it a 3 out of 5 star rating. While some parts were thought-provoking, much of the actual writing was dry and the story tended to drag. This could be the fault of the translator, though.

The last fiction novel I read was Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger... I'd give it a 3.8/5 as it was somewhat slow to lift off and there was a (great) twist toward the end, but it seemed the book should have headed in another direction for the end, for it was unfulfilling.

Into the Fire by Richard Laymon

I wasn't too crazy about his Beast House series but this one was great. I'm going to check out some of his other stuff now. His other titles have some really good premises. The hard part is picking which one to buy next.

The Last Light of the Sun by Guy Gavriel Kay.

A pretty good fantasy tale, although sometimes his style of writing can be confusing. There were so many characters and they could be hard to keep track of. I give it 7/10 stars.

I finished The Hypochondriac's Pocket Guide to Horrible Diseases You Probably Already Have by Dennis DiCluadio recently, and I have to say it was as hillarious as it was disturbing. 4/5.

Just finished reading Prisoner of Birth by Jefferey Archer. I'd definitely recommend it to someone wanting to read an intense law thriller. Good book

I just finished Movie-Made America, A Cultural History of American Movies by Robert Sklar. Became tiresome, it's to long except for movie history aficionados, I'm glad I read it but I'm really glad it over with.

Life of Pi by Yann Martel

I was not impressed at all. Much of the book tended to drag, the metaphors used were quite lame, and the ending defied rationality. The beginning of the book promised this would be a story that would "make you believe in God". It failed to deliver on it's promise, at least for me.

I give it 2 out of 10 stars.

^^ That is a tall promise. And such a thing should never be promised...(at least among humans). I recall reading that book for school and liking it. I don't think I'd read it again, though.

Just finished The Naming by Alison Croggon last night. 5/5
Loved it -- the writing, the characters, setting... yet it was all good. Knocked flat, I was. Can't wait to get my hands on a copy of the next book (yay for Border's coupons).

But for now comes the very difficult task of deciding what book to read next.
