I found the original post frightening and emotionally jarring, but it set my creative juices flowing. It prompts me to consider a novel about a man who loves books .... no, I mean REALLY loves books. In fact he takes books out on dates with the intention of smelling them when he gets them back to his place. Now, he wouldn't take a book written by Cormac McCarthy on a date because McCarthy is a guy and my protagonist is a straight male. Nor would he take anything written by Oscar Wilde on a date because Wilde is not only a male but gay. He WOULD take George Eliot on a date because George is really a woman named Mary Ann Evans but since George's face would stop a clock and my hero fancies a digestible dinner, she's out too. I imagine my protagonist taking Jane Austen on a date ... yes, Austen. Somehow I feel she would satisfy all his romanic sensitivities. I imagine him taking Sense And Sensibility with him to a five-star restaurant and placing it upon a cushion in the seat opposite his own. I can imagine the dialogue in somewhat the following vein:
Protagonist - "Wow Jane, it was really cool of you to go on a date with me."
Sense And Sensibility - "I am delighted by your attentions sir. Judging from the finery of this establishment I conclude that your annual income must be at least 5000 pounds."
Protagonist - "No, not nearly THAT much."
Sense And Sensibility - "Yes, but surely you must own properties. I imagine an extensive estate with enormous parkland acreage."
Protagonist - "Actually, I live in a trailer park. Only 473 more payments and the trailer is mine."
Sense And Sensibility - *Falls off the cushion and runs away.*
Protagonist - "Come back Jane ! Don't you want me to smell you ?!"
The possibilities with such a novel are staggering ! Man - Booker, here I come !!!

What about Anne Rice or J. K. Rowling?
Maybe Laurell K. Hamilton?
This is awesome!
Have you ever watched the show...'My Strange Obsession'?
Maybe it's 'addiction'...
You just reminded me of this show!
What is grief, if not love persevering?
Grief is just love with no place to go.
