You have 12 black socks and 12 white socks mixed up in a drawer. It's early in the morning and you don't have any light to see the colors. How many socks must you pull out to be sure of getting a matching pair?

Nope. It would be zero. The boat floats so it would simply rise with the tide.fluidity wrote:3?rssllue wrote:A boat has a ladder that has six rungs. Each rung is one foot apart. The bottom rung is one foot from the water. The tide rises at 12 inches every 15 minutes. High tide peaks in one hour.

In reference to the "2 Pens" brainteaser, of course you only have "1" pen but the question is asked in the plural form. As we do many times in speaking English. I've asked English teachers how/why such questions/statements work. Haven't received a satisfactory answer yet as to the "mechanics" behind this, just "That's how it is" and "We use these all the time." True but Why? If I receive an explanation for this I'll let you know.Graverobber wrote:3
