One?

A prisoner is told "If you tell a lie we will hang you; if you tell the truth we will shoot you." What can he say to save himself?

He can say "You will hang me". If they hang him this statement is true, they can only hang him for telling a lie. If they shoot him, then it makes the statement a lie and they were only to shoot him for telling the truth.

Answer this one again.....You have 2 pens and you give me 1. How many pens do you have?

He lives on the roof?

You have 12 black socks and 12 white socks mixed up in a drawer. It's early in the morning and you don't have any light to see the colors. How many socks must you pull out to be sure of getting a matching pair?

He's a dwarf and can only reach the 8 button.

Before Mt. Everest was discovered, what was the tallest mountain in the world?
Pronouns: She/Her

Grief is just love with no place to go.

A boat has a ladder that has six rungs. Each rung is one foot apart. The bottom rung is one foot from the water. The tide rises at 12 inches every 15 minutes. High tide peaks in one hour.

When the tide is at its highest, how many rungs are under water?

For clarity - There are 2 people, how can one person stand in front AND in back of the other person at the same time?

Nope. It would be zero. The boat floats so it would simply rise with the tide.

Close, depending on how the siamese twins are attached. They must be back to back

In reference to the "2 Pens" brainteaser, of course you only have "1" pen but the question is asked in the plural form. As we do many times in speaking English. I've asked English teachers how/why such questions/statements work. Haven't received a satisfactory answer yet as to the "mechanics" behind this, just "That's how it is" and "We use these all the time." True but Why? If I receive an explanation for this I'll let you know.
