How much did you spend this month on books?

Post by TammyO »

I have decided to monitor my spending when purchasing books. I simply have been spending too much money on physical books as well as ebooks. Most of the time I shop impulsively or because my library's waiting list is too long. My monthly allowance on ALL books is now 50 dollars. I can spend less but never more than this. What is your monthly spending habits on books, Ebooks or Magazines?

It would be fun to post how much we spend weekly or monthly on books. Shhh we won't tell anyone :D As of today I have spent 10 dollars on books and its only the 5th. I have 40 more dollars to shop with!

I probably average between $50-60 each month.

I have actually not spent any money on books in a while. Okay, no, I'm lying. I did buy Prophase last month! But that was it! Other than that, I usually go shopping for free ebooks. This month I definitely haven't spent any money on books. I am trying to make it last until I have finished reading a bunch of books already on my kindle!

I don't either!! I wish I did. I have so many unread books to read. I really don't need to purchase anymore; I just can't help myself!

Its almost the end of November and I have spent a total of 15.00 on books. Yay I knew I could do it! Of course my library and used book stores helped. December and the holiday is approaching I don't know if I will be strong enough to stay within my budget. We shall see! So many books so little time..

Good savings Tammy. Now try not to walk into any bookstores while out, lol.

I would say for 90% of my books I use the library. The rest of the time I buy used at library book sales, yard sales, and flea markets. I also do book swaps when my husband and I go to campgrounds. So many of them have exchange libraries:) Like ALynn I also download free e-books.

The last book I bought was probably last summer.

I understand. I moved to a new area and I haven't been to a library in over a month  I am having severe withdrawals, lol. I am stuck reading some books from a very old stack.

I should really try to find a library near my home! I bet they would have SOME books in English, right? I hope. I will check it out.
Anyway, this month, I was lucky and spent maybe $10... but I REALLY have to be thrifty over the next year, so I am going to be looking for those free books on Amazon for realz.
