I got a surprise book today! My mother-in-law is awesome.

Post by Skillian »

Guys! I just had the most wonderful thing happen today! I got a surprise book in the mail! Really it was for my husband.. but that means it is totally mine to read as well. hehehe. His mom sent us Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. I have seen some of the show... anyone read the books? What did you guys think? I'm looking forward to starting it. It sounds soooo good.

"In essence, these novels are Big, Fat, Historical Fiction, à la James Clavell and James Michener. However, owing to the fact that I wrote the first book for practice, didn’t intend to show it to anyone, and therefore saw no reason to limit myself, they include…

history, warfare, medicine, sex, violence, spirituality, honor, betrayal, vengeance, hope and despair, relationships, the building and destruction of families and societies, time travel, moral ambiguity, swords, herbs, horses, gambling (with cards, dice, and lives), voyages of daring, journeys of both body and soul…"

Don't you guys love when something like this happens? Have you ever been surprised by a friend or family.. anyone really... with a book? :3 What book was it? And did the surprise factor add to the overall enjoyment of the book? I mean free is one thing.. but surprise free is like a whole other level! haha.

Anyway! Happy Friday! :D
I love LOVE. <3

Yeah! for you and your husband! I have read all of the books - many of them multiple times - great stuff - just when I think it can't get any better, it does. Her plot twists are amazing.

There has been a new development. Apparently my mother-in-law did not order the book for us! What a mystery! We tried the tracking number... and there is no billing receipt type paperwork with it.... We have no idea who sent us the book! How strange and awesome. haha. And thanks guys I'm looking forward to it :)

That is so cool! I have heard of the show, but haven't watched it because my brother and I (we share an apartment) don't pay for the channel that its on. I just recently got surprised by my grandmother who bought me a copy of Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma, which was super nice of her.

That is really awesome! Your excitement has given me a great idea. I am going to be a secret santa and send books randomly to family and friends. The little ones will love it....

That is a great idea! It should be funny watching them all try to figure out who did it. I still have no clue where mine came from. haha.
