Messed up the lyrics

Post by rssllue »

I know that I have at times messed up the lyrics of a song, or just mumbled my way through certain lines in the past, so I thought it would be fun to put down what we thought the song was saying and then to put the actual lyrics afterwards.

I'm going to start with a line from the chorus of Men At Work's song It's A Mistake

Mine: It's summer's day.
Correct: It's a mistake.

I sang that for quite awhile before I got it right!

Well your mistake was kind of ironic....
And funny, and cute,

So a friend of mine listened to some N'Sync song and heard:
That tree has got to go.
Real words: N'Sync has got the flow.

I've done this a lot...but for the life of me I can't remember anything specific!
I'm sorry :(

Oh man! I had a good one that I heard over the weekend when I was at my sister's! It was a country song and my niece thought the words were something about taking her shoes off. But I don't know the real words. Can't think of the song at all right now!

I remember! Don't know the name of the song, but it goes like,
"I'm begging you, friend... don't take her, she'll all I got..."

But my niece sang it as, "I'm begging you, friend... don't take her shoes off..."

It was only recently brought to my attention that "Rocking Around the Christmas Tree" does NOT contain the line:
"Buzzards singing 'let's be jolly...'" ... ... ...

What is that line of lyrics in the Bee Gees song Stayin' Alive before they sing... "STAYIN' ALIVE", "STAYIN' ALIVE?"
