I recently discovered Christian Funk music which is so fun... and funny. It is kind of awesome. I love mercyme. I also love all of the oldies but goodies. I go on youtube and look for playlists. Carrie Underwood is a guilty pleasure... JESUS TAKE THE WHEEL! TAKE IT FROM MY HAND! haha.

Sonic Flood was a great worship band, especially their early stuff with Jeff Deyo as their lead singer!

There's lots of great religious music out there, both traditional and contemporary. My favorite modern Christian singers/bands are Jeremy Camp, Mandisa, The Newsboys, Tobymac, Flyleaf, and Fireflight (those last two are actually Christian metal bands--great music for working out or going on a long run!)

You are welcome! Thanks also for the thread! Christian Contemporary music makes up most of the "current" music that I listen to, and because so many people don't listen to it regularly, I don't get to talk about my favorite artists very much.

Listening to Joy to the World, The Mormon Tabernacle Choir...

Russell, you're very welcome!..........it's " thanks to you " that I'd even create a thread like this ".. when you appeared on the scene , I knew that as a man of God, your influence here would create a " balance " so to speak...

I no longer have to risk a " confrontation " w/an over-aged / throwback from Woodstock Hippy on here and her verbal /ad hominem attacks, simply because I eschew Tats, piercings, and actually mentioned the word : " God "....

Since your arrival, she wouldn't dare ! 8)

So, it's YOU I thank!..........I still say that you appeared here by " Divine Intervention "...very nice!...heeeheee

I always liked Tennesee Ernie Ford's inspirational songs. And as you mentioned Suzy, The Mormon Tabernacle Choir is tops.

I remember 16 Tons. First time I ever heard it was Halloween night in 1955. Groovy song.

Im listening to Take My Hand right now by The Preservation Hall Jazz Band. They do a pretty good version of it. They did a few inspirational songs in the New Orleans style. Just a Closer Walk With Thee, His Eye Is On The Sparrow.
