Shame on You Angelina CREEPY Jolie
Yet the " director "DEVILINA JOLIE" chose to ignore this most important part of his life /bio...Just heard on Fox news that fruitcake Jolie totally omitted the " religiosity " of this great man.........
No surprise tho, considering these lunatics are trying their best to ELIMINATE Xmas, Chanukuh, etc...
Stop making movies you idiot!............ go back to wearing your human-blood filled pendant of your ex-paramour Billy Bob whomever...( that's more your " speed "...
She's the WEIRD in HOLLYWEIRD.........Mr. Zamperini must be rolling over in his grave...
Carpe Diem!

I agree w/you re a " work of fiction " but NOT a PORTRAYAL OF ONES LIFE, ( just to accommodate their political agenda ).

It's called " guilt by omission " most ppl prefer the unvarnished TRUTH in a bio...........yet you choose a FALSE portrayal...

But hey! that's what makes the horse races!

"Personally, coming from a Christian perspective as I am one… I must say that it is actually quite wise the Jolie is simply using subtle references to his Christianity and not making it a pitch for salvation because THOSE DON’T WORK. The only time the big “come to Jesus” moments appear to work is when the person already had the seed of curiosity in their soul. They were already searching for its not a decision that anyone really would take lightly. Nobody can force beliefs of any religion on anyone and in a sense, if she included such a viewpoint it could risk to be a turnoff to all sorts of audiences and exclude many people who otherwise would have been exposed to the story. However, now that all are curious… Those who want to dig deeper into his story and what shaped the person he becomes will then make their own decision to explore further and read his book. So actually, she’s making this story available and attractive to all. We as Christians need to learn how to relax… If we really trust God why can’t we trust that He also has the world under control and we don’t have to be so uptight and trying to force His story. Let’s not back down on our beliefs (so always be honest)… But today, consideration is going to go much farther than making ourselves look like freaks. Jesus surely wasn’t."

The sad part is that people have become so conditioned to feeling that religion is constantly being forced on them... that they can't enjoy a biography of a person if it mentions their religion. The average human is in it for entertainment... and they don't consume media objectively. They react to things as if they are personal accusations.... versus stopping and thinking... oh.. well... its a bio. This isn't about me... it is about them.
This doesn't just happen with religion... but with anything that makes a person realize they aren't perfect. People focus in on negative. I just took a media course.. and if there is a character and that character the audience feels they identify with... it doesn't matter how many awesome positive things that character does... people will cling to the one thing they don't like and get angry that the character is failing to represent them accurately. As if the characters were designed and written JUST FOR THEM. It is narcissistic really, but we all do it. hahaha. LIFE ISN'T FAIR!
But yes... 'good' business isn't moral.
I wont lie though... if I was rich and making a movie... I'd make it true... and screw everyone who doesn't like it. They can learn to grow up. It wouldn't hurt me... I'd still be laughing to the bank. lolol
Wow this got long fast... ramble ramble... why am I not asleep? haha.

First of all, I was blown away by this book. I devoured it. I thought the author's writing was incredible. She did an excellent job of portraying Mr. Zamperini's story without making it sound supernatural.
I have not seen the movie. Most likely, I will not. I will probably be disappointed in it because I was so captivated by the book. However, personally I find it a shame that director Angelina Jolie did not include Mr. Zamperini's faith in the movie. It was an integral part of his life, and it is too bad that she chose to leave it out. Hollywood liberties, I suppose.
I am not a religious person at all. At this point in my life, I would call myself an agnostic. I was reared in a strict Christian home but have taken a different path during adulthood. However, I still have a deep respect for all religions or non-religions. While reading this book, it became apparent to me that Mr. Zamperini's faith in God saved his life after his return from the war and the horrors he suffered. I truly believe he was on a path to destruction and certain death. It is a shame that this was left out of the movie.
On a personal note, my paternal grandfather was an American pilot during WWII. He was older than Mr. Zamperini when the war began and already had flight experience. He never spoke of his experiences during the war. Reading this book made me feel closer to him somehow. Throughout my life, I had the privilege of meeting many WWII veterans that my grandpa knew, yet I never stopped to consider how many he had lost. Bless all of them.
