Christmas Memories

Post by cmp librarian »

I love Christmas. It is one of my favorite holidays. I think what I enjoy are all the memories and traditions. Listening to the music sbd drinking hot chocolate or watching How the Grinch Stole Christmas, etc. What are some of your favorite Christmas memories or tradions?

One of my is reading "The Night Before Christmas" on Christmas Eve while drinking hot chocolate with whipped cream. Now we try to recite the story without the book and then we read "The Night Before Jesus Came." It's something I look forward to doing with my kids someday.

Last year was my first Christmas with my husband. We were so broke that we used an old spiral outdoor tree decoration as out Christmas tree... then we decorated it with free Christmas bookmarks from the library and candycanes. haha. I would say that is always going to be a fond memory.

Skillian, I love that story. So sweet. Bookmarks and candy canes, that will be a story to share for many years to come. :)

My family doesn't really have any Christmas traditions, but I have a memory from when I was in elementary school (say, fourth grade, age 9) and my church group did this project where we made some crafts as gifts for an elderly couple who couldn't leave their home, and then we went as a group and visited them. It was a nice feeling.

I also have this awesome video from 1985 of me singing in front of the Christmas tree that I enjoy watching around the holidays. It's adorable!

Being one of the wise men in a church play when I was 5 or 6. It was my first time in front of a group of people and was great fun. I loved having that as part of my Christmas celebration that year!

OH! I loved doing Christmas plays at school (went to a private Christian school)!! We always had a Christmas musical every year! I got a speaking part in 6th grade... my costume was my grandmother's pink bathrobe.

Very cool!

I was also the prince in one of my school plays. I had a lot of lines in that one! It was my first leading role! :D

Getting up before it was light out to sit and look at the tree while waiting for everybody else to get up!
