Memoirs of a Geisha was a really compelling movie. It literally did leave me breathless. Beautiful imagery, great designs, A+ performaces.

Orpheo Negro /Black Orpheus............. Brazilian Academy Award winner for best foreign film many years ago...a re-telling of the " Orpheus and Eurydice " legend.............

The Samba musical score by Antonio Carlos Jobim and the beauty of Brazil all contributed to my extended stay there and the lifelong friends I've made...

Suzy, have you ever seen Nosso Lar? Its a Brazilian movie that came out a few years ago. Kind of a strange movie, based on the experiences of a Brazilian psychic. Its pretty much far out and probably all BS, but its very well made and won a bunch of awards. If you havent seen it, you might want to check it out.

The Princess Bride and The Neverending Story. Both are classics and timeless, still able to keep my interest when I watch them and pull at my heartstrings.

Those seem like really nice movies for family night with the kids. I'll have to try them. I can't believe that I haven't seen them. A couple of other nice family movie classics are Finding Neverland and Edward Scissorhands with Johnny Depp. He's brilliant in those movies; I may be a little bias though.
