What Do You Put On Your Subway?

Anytime im in Subway its always the same - foot long Subway Melt, extra cheese, on Italian Herbs and Cheese, no salad, southwestern sauce and thats all i have ever tried, I probably should branch out but im only there once or twice a year so i tend to stick with what I know!

I usually get the Italian BMT on Italian herbs and cheese. Toasted with whatever the white cheese is.... not swiss. The other one. haha. Lots of tomato, banana peppers, oil and vinegar. Yummo.

Subway is great for a skint student which i was for a few years. You have an entire dinner right there for under 5 euros when they did specials - 6 inch subway melt, crisps and coke 5 euros cant beat it. Plus I have been in Subway in Niagra Falls, Vancouver and New York and they are all the same layout and design so thats even handier.

Havent had a taste for subway since I had these...Even prefer Jersey Mikes but they are getting too pricey for me these day!

Try Jason's Deli, no bargains there, but worth every penny...........very innovative soups, salads and sandwiches, plus a KILLER REUBEN!

There are lots of cheap competitors to Subway as well, the worst i have seen was in Calgary, a place called "Mister Sub", was basically the same layout as Subway but there were only 3 choices of bread, no deals and the staff were very unfriendly and more interested in having a smoke than serving customers. Having said that, the food was still nice.

Theres a local owned Subway type place in a small town in Utah that has Subway beat. Same type of sandwiches plus yummy hamburgers and the best Reubens I have ever eaten. But they are only open in the summer months. They close up for the winter. After Sept. I had to wait all winter to get a decent Reuben.

My absolute favorite sandwich would be from Old Tyme Grocery in Lafayette Louisiana. They are a 'poor boy' shop that has been there forever. Pastrami. mmmm. Fried shrimp.. mmmm. Basically all of their sandwiches rock.

Only went to Subway once, ( prefer Jason's Deli )..........my latest sandwich dressing is a combo of Wasabi w/Mayo, sour cream, tofu, or cream cheese...

I used to make my own Subway type sandwiches. I would start with a loaf of French bread and go from there. All different kinds of meat, cold or hot, veggies, 3 or 4 different kinds of cheese, peppers, onions, crushed garlic, olives, and top it off with herb and garlic dressing. I might make me one today, Ive got everything here to make a good one except the French bread. But a trip to the bakery will take care of that.

B.H. do you know how French bread got to be in Mexico?

At one point in time Maximillian and his wife Carlotta ruled Mexico, there are other French " influences ", such as the Chapultepec Park in Mexico City, patterned after the " Bois de Bologne " in Paris...

Thats interesting. The bread I use is fresh baked with no preservatives. They didnt have any French bread, but I got some buns that look like small French bread. I made a couple hoagies with cheese, ham, baloney, onions, celantro, tomatos, lettuce, and Italian dressing. Gooood and goood for ya.
