I just got up... I'm chanting my morning mantras, typing a thorough To Do List and posting it online somewhere. Afterwards I'll make breakfast and spend time with family again... just a bit. A lot of us are sick with the cold or flu. I'm feeling flu-like symptoms myself so I might just say "hi". That'd be the best thing to do actually...

suzy1124 wrote:B.H., I first had the dish " Paella " many years ago when we were in Spain, where it originated in Valencia...

It's basically a seafood, meat, poultry dish w/veggies such as Artichoke hearts, peas, red peppers, onion, garlic, etc., all on a bed of Saffron infused rice...

It is cooked in a special flat pan ( which enables the bottom layer of rice to get crispy/crunchy ) called a " Paellera "...
Ingredients can range from Shrimp, Chicken, Rabbit, Snails, Mussels, Chorizo, Lobster, Clams, Crab, Lobster, etc..

The dish is said to be a perfect union between two cultures from Spain, the Romans for the pan, and the Arabs who brought rice...

When I lived in Mexico City a friend of mine held " Paella Parties " every Sunday at her home...at the time there were Restaurants devoted to ONLY Paella.......it was a takeout place that for a small deposit allowed you to bring the HUGE pan home and return it the next day.....( we were never less than 20 ppl )

I'll never forget the excitement when her husband walked through the door w/the steaming hot " Paellera " as big as a queen sized bed
Till this day SAFFRON remains my fave spice...
That sounds great. I suppose its something you would serve to a whole herd of people and not especially for one or two people.

I dont plan on doing a thing today. Sit on my dead butt and read is about all.

I plan on enjoying the second to last day of 2014! Is it just me or has this year gone by super fast? Today I'll probably be reading or practicing reels on my accordion. I like celebrating at home, haha.

Hey, how'd you do that? I am not getting the same emoticons apparently. What am I missing? Really nice.

Today I am visiting my library to return my loans, having lunch at this new steakhouse and planning New Year celebrations with friends. Yes, we start celebrations early! It's not really early, New Year's Eve is tomorrow. Yikes! Happy New Year everyone! :P 8) :o

Days over for me, but I cleaned up a mess in my yard, fed the mice some mouse food, fixed the sound on my computer, or more precise, brought it back. Made potato salad, visited with my landlady and my dingbat friend, ate potato salad, going to kick back now and take it easy.

It's New Years' Eve here and I have some plans! Friend is coming over to have dinner, and then we are going to go the local shrine at midnight and pray for good blessings throughout the new year. Japanese custom I enjoy participating in.

Burn trash, go to town and pay my light bill, maybe get a couple tacos, and just general messing around.
