Re: What is your favorite chocolate ?

Post by Happily Candied »

Milk chocolate is my favorite. :) And there's a reason behind that!

My mom is what I like to consider a chocolate connoisseur, and she's always loved all type of chocolates. There was an incident before I was born, however, that caused her to become allergic to dark chocolate. Ever since then, she becomes extremely ill whenever she ingests the slightest amount of dark chocolate. Because of that, my household while growing up never stored dark chocolate in our overflowing candy drawers (placed near our gaming areas where my mom, sisters and I would play video games together). I never developed a huge love for it, although I've come around to eating certain dark chocolate creams (especially from See's Candies) these last few years.

I think my dislike for dark chocolate is mostly due to me associating it with something negative. I'm trying to get past that notion now in my adult years.

My favorite has always been Snickers, but I just discovered a new treat that rivals that love. I am a teacher and I have an eleventh grade student who is a budding chocolatier. She has started her own company and makes her own chocolates with a vast variety of flavors (mango, coconut, pina colada, egg nog, tangerine, cheesecake flavors, pralines and cream). I especially enjoy the white chocolate flavors. They are divine!!!! I have never been a chocolate lover with the exception of Snickers, but I have been converted by her chocolates.

Remember Flicks? When I was a kid thats what I bought at the movies if I had a dime. If I only had a nickel I got a Tootsie roll. The good old days... I guess.

I like Milky Way. I still buy one every once in a while.

Flicks were made by Ghirardelli a San Francisco candy maker. Maybe they didnt have them back east. They were chocolate discs in a tube They are still made on the same machinery they used in the 1890's.

I normally don't like dark chocolate, but the Milky Way Midnight is rather magical.

What is halvah? Isnt it some kind of fish?

We had some friends in England who used to send us booze filled chocolates. Two or three of those made you kind of tipsy.
