We feel exactly the same ALynn!! I wish somewhere in the description Google Play (I find them to be the biggest offenders) would specify that what you're considering downloading is a novella. They get me all excited to have an awesome new book just to shatter my happiness with a 30 page novella. Meanies.

I've never gotten books with Google Play, but now that I know I can, it might be a dangerous thing for me. Is there anyway that you can see the size of the file before you get it? Maybe you could compare sizes to one that you know if a full length book and one you know is a novella? See if the novellas are smaller in size?

That's where things get sketchy, every book I download from them (don't get me wrong, it doesn't deter me in the least, just an annoyance) it says how many pages the book is and its NEVER accurate... No file size or anything. I'm one of those people that the longer a book is, the happier I am because I feel like I've lost a bestie when I finish a great book/series!! I get most of my books from BookBub.com (Best. Site. EVER!!!!!!!!!) and download them either on my phone or nook.

You sure can! Its an awesome site, you can get tons of books for free or very low cost and they email you daily with a list from your favorite genres!! ☺

I totally agree with you! I love free books on Kindle. I find so many new authors that way. I've found many series where the first book was free, and it was so good that I'd buy the next book. Then the books that you have to buy in the series do not stand up to the free book at all. It also seems like authors end books on a cliffhanger (even if it doesn't fit the plot and pacing of the story) just to urge you to buy the next book. Lots of ebooks seem to feel shorter almost like the author wanted to stretch what should have been 3 books into 6.

I love my Kindle Paperwhite! I have an iPad and it is just not the best for reading, in my opinion. My Kindle is light (I carry it in my purse ALWAYS) and I can read in any light. I don't have the 3G so I do have to use Wifi with mine, but it hasn't ever been an issue since wifi is available in many places.

There are too many bad and frivolous books out there because it is free for indies to publish. If there was a small fee, it would weed them out. If I see one more book cover showing a guys abs I will go crazy.

I agree with several of the other reviewers. Many of the free ebooks that I encounter have not been edited well, and are often hard to get through.

You are right - some of the newer free books I wish I could offer to at least point out the errors!

Sometimes there are mistakes or something, but mostly I am all aboard on the free train - Americans love free stuff, I admit it.

We have a huge collection of older books, all free, and I have read some older books that turned out to be pretty cool that I had never heard of, and they were free too!

If they are trying to hook me into buying the next book, well, if I really liked it I might buy it, but yes, that is sort of rude!

especially if they really could have put the whole thing in one book and they are just giving you half of a book for free, that stinks. That has never happened to me.

I have found some great free books, but I hve also found some stinkers. I enjoy the "hunt" for a good, free book, though! You never know what you may find.

The problem I have with free ebooks is I tend to use them as retail therapy when things are rough, so I end up downloading a whole lot of them (mostly classics out of copyright) and then not having time to read them!
