Re: Reading over sleeping

I normally try to go to sleep before 10 pm, but when I have a good book in my grasp, hours pass before I finally fall asleep, my face rested against the pages. It is a chore getting up in the morning after that and the bags under my eyes don't help one bit, but can I say it is worth it?

Yes, I would rather read than sleep. I am a voracious reader and I love to learn new things. I do this quite often and then have to pay the price of little sleep the next day.

I did this with Harry Potter. Not only was I engrossed in the book but my second graders at school were also reading it so I had to keep up with them! I've read all night more than once and plan on continuing!!

I certainly do tend stay up late when I'm immersed in whatever good book I happen to be reading. Though I don't think I have ever stayed up all night to read any book...not even a school book. I fall asleep after awhile. But, yes staying up late into the night, reading something awesome is one of my favorite things :D

I had to stop reading after my daughter got into toddler phase, just because I would be so glued to my book. Reading is almost like an addiction. Well... let me rephrase. Reading is most definitely an addiction; but I miss it so much, so I've decided to dive back in and -try- to keep it at a non addiction level. Haha.

Yeah, I do this all the time. Usually because I can't sleep anyway so might as well read.

Definitely. Several times before I have started to finish a book that I was reading, and then read till 2 in the morning. Other times I get so caught up in wanting to read and am not tired that I still continue reading. Even starting a new book at 3 in the morning.

Hi there everyone! I'm new to this site and I love reading! I seriously would stay up all night long and head straight to work the following morning with no sleep. That's what a great book does to me!

Definitely reading. Unfortunately I usually end up finishing the whole book and am left with nothing else to read.

I have stayed up late reading on the weekends. But I usually have to time myself during the week because I'm usually up by 5am. The weekend is when I can stay up late reading if I choose to do so. It is definitely tempting at times when the book is a page-turner.

I definitely have, I get so engrossed in a book that time passes by so quickly that I don't even notice! I guess that is what a great book does to you.

Every single night actually. Even though I'm a college student and should probably get the full eight hours, I usually settle for about four.

There are many times when I've stayed up very late just to finish a chapter or two... or twelve.

I find myself reading instead of sleeping all the time. I have to force myself to put the book down half the time, and even then I'll keep thinking about the story and imagining how it's going to play out.

oh yes. I lost a lot of sleep due to my reading. I find it hard to sleep until I finish a book.
