Oh yes, I sure have. Not as much as I used to though. Even if I wanted to stay up all night, my body probably wouldn't let me. But I do fight sleep to keep reading; it's just that now sleep usually wins after a time.

All the time. I always try to put the book in another room so that I won't be tempted to read it, but then I always get up and go get it anyways. I also always end up regretting it the next morning. :D

Yes, indeed, if a book/an author really captivates me, I could read a few hours per night, without the slightest regret. Clearly, it's a good time, not a lost one, right?

there were plenty of times when I was so into a book that I just could not sleep. I remember a few years ago when I picked up The Host and just kept reading until 5 ....I just had to find out what was going to happen.

I am so silly! I read in the bathtub and before I go to bed, but when I have down time at school and I do not have anything to study for I read. However, I am guilty of staying up till 3 am reading a book. I used to get a book, stay up all night and finish it, then return it to the library the next day! My librarian was amazed! I never could understand why though, all I did was read!

Yes, I remember amazed librarians during my teens. (first half of 1990s). We still had the old system back then. Librarian had to note your name and stamp the date you took the book home. Now you just scan the books yourself, which I like much better as it's quicker and how many books I finish, is none of their business.

The maximum books you could take home, used to be 10 (return after 4 weeks). I took all 10 and brought them back in a week, to find 10 more. They were amazed, 'you really read all that in one week?' etc.

Nowadays I don't read that much anymore. Sometimes I finish 1 book in a week, sometimes more, but not 10 anymore. I have more to do in life, at my age. ;-D

Yes, I do often. Now I don't go completely sleepless (I have 2 young children), but I will stay up until 3 in the morning reading because the chapter just doesn't end with a satisfying enough pause... You know how some chapters lead right into the next minute while some are the end to a day? Well that just bugs me if I end when I know that particular conversation is not quite over...

Funny....was just talking about this very topic. I have a hard time putting down a good book. To me it is like leaving the theater before the movie is over....who does that?
Reading seldom makes me sleepy....if it does, I'm reading the wrong book!

That's kind of my test for seeing just how much I love the book. I tend to start reading it in the afternoon and if I want to pick it up again after dinnertime, we're off to a good start. If I'm reading it well into bedtime, we're off to an amazing start. If it's after midnight and I'm still reading, I won't regret being a zombie tomorrow because I just read an awesome story. Used to do that all the time.

I have stayed up all night reading many times. I was on a cruise ship when I was in the middle of reading "Unbroken", the part where he is on a raft in the middle of the ocean. Stayed up all night alternating between reading and wondering if I would survive if the ship went down.

100% definitely. They are those REALLY good books that have an OMG moment at the end of almost each chapter, so you HAVE to read another... Next thing you know, you're finished and haven't slept. :)
