The Selection by Kiera Cass

Post by saiah »

The Selection is a great book. It's about how 35 girls are selected from 35 different places and they all have a chance to marry Prince Maxon. It revolves around a girl, America, who is genuinely unwilling to involve herself in the "selection," happens to get "selected". Moreover, she caught the prince's attention without even trying. I know it sounds corny but it's actually not. It is such a great romance novel. This is one of those books that you just cannot stop reading once you've picked it up. I'm not sure how I can say any more without spoiling the great parts so I'd like to hear what you think of the book. And if you haven't read it, I highly recommend that you do especially if you're craving that romantic feel.

Your description makes me want to read this book - especially because of what you did not say.

Eh. It's all right. It's another Twilight style book with an angsty teen and a love triangle. I didn't like the main character in this, or either of the love interests, so it was hard for me to get into. I thought America was pretty bratty and selfish, while Aspen was just written unrealistically and is kind of a cardboard character. Prince Maxon is a weak minded guy who lets way too many other people decide things for him. I read the next book in the series to see if it was any better, and it was almost like reading a different author. The characterizations got better, but the plot was terrible. So, eh.

My opinion of these books are so weird. I love them but the characters always get on my nerves. Somehow Kiera Cass makes it work I guess.
Just a girl with a banjo and some books...minus the banjo
Also a booktuber :)

I really enjoyed this book slash series also.. I also found the characters annoying at points but like other posts I agree it works out well.

9 :| well i am a little ambivalent about recommending this book. At first you will get excited by the plot and oh soo cinderella style...but the things that happened at the middle,,well its a little weird(like the bombing thing)...

I read the the first two books, and I thought they were amazing. They are highly addictive and difficult to put down. I like America but she does get a bit irritating in The Elite (the second book of the trilogy). I'm anxiously awaiting the final book of the trilogy.

I totally loved this book. I just finished it and am currently looking into getting the next one! It is such a unique way to tell a story mixing elements of current ya themed books and the bachelor tv show. Even though the books are short (at least the first one was) it had good movement and enough plotline to not feel like nothing happened. I've heard the second one is a little different in that regard so I will have to see for myself!

I thought this book was amazing. When I started reading it I was looking for something different and it kept popping up on my suggested to read. I didn't know if it was for me at first then I started reading it and I couldn't put it down! I finished the first one in one night and started the second right away! I have recommended so many of my friends to read this series! All in all if you are looking for something different to read and are needing a break from the heavy romances out there this is it! : )

I really enjoyed this book. At first I wasn't sure but the more I read the more I became hooked. I've read the second book and can't wait to start the third. I'm glad Kiera Cass decided to continue the series into a fourth. I recommend this book for anybody who wants a twist on the classic Cinderella story.
