I just gave up on a sci fi book whose name I'm forgetting right now. Kinda boring.
I see nothing wrong with not finishing a book. If you'r not into it, you're not into it.

Nothing wrong with it at all ... but I just can't do it. If I start a book I have to finish it regardless ... consequently I have wasted many hours of my life on utter tripe.

Yeah i am the same as i always fear that i may have missed out on the book actually being brilliant near the end or else i hear my friends discuss it and i cant really join in as i didnt read the end, that doesnt usually happen though as a bad book usually remains a bad book....

I never finished Inkheart. The whole story line is amazing, and the movie wasn't bad. But I just got lost in multiple point of view and lyrical description of the book. Felt pretty bad about it - I don't like starting a book and not finishing it.

I never finished The Bridges of Madison County, it bored me to tears and just recently could not continue with Charlotte Gray. It was too slow and dull. I hate not finishing books to the end, but these two had to go!
I made several attemps over 10 years to read "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy. It was one of the few book series my husband would read and reread. I felt in some way I may be given a glimpse of his psyche if I could get through the books. First 2 attempts I did not make it through the 1st book. 3rd attempt I was successful and read all 3 books and thoroughly enjoyed the series.

Krakatoa: The day the Earth exploded. It spent too much time on flora and fauna in the first 3 chapters that I decided to not finish it. It was taking far too long to get to the actual eruption.

I'm amazed ... I thought the Poisonwood Bible was an absolutely fantastic read. Ah well 'different strokes for different folks'.

I loved too absolutely loved "The Poisonwood Bible". One of those books that imprinted in my memory. However, when I recommended it to friends it had about a 50/50 shot of being read through. Many friends have told me they just couldn't get through it. I guess there are just too many books aren't there, waiting to be read. Why settle for one if it does not resonate with you and move you!

The Five People You Meet in Heaven - dead bore
A Christmas Carrol - too heavy for an average-reader like me, but would like to finish it in the future... :P

Portent by James Herbert. The other half recommended it and i was hooked right up til the end and just could finish the last few chapters felt it was getting really predictable. Was a shame really as it was a decent book up til then.

I also loved The Poisonwood Bible, but I recommended it to my husband and he didn't finish it.
There are lots of books I didn't read to the end. I don't like to waste time on books I don't enjoy. I read for fun and when it's not fun I don't read... Some of the books I didn't finish lately:
Tigana
A Suitable Boy
The Story of Edgar Sawtelle
The Lovely Bones
Gilead
and many more...

"Man Of High Fidelity," by Lawrence Lessing. A biography about Major Edwin Howard Armstrong, an inventor whose developments in radio are still used today [FM broadcasting being the most visible]. An excellent read, but fatigue from my work schedule prevented me from finishing it before it had to be returned to the library [which had it via an interlibrary loan]. :(
