OK, I'm going to spell it, because I can't stand to say it. It's M-E-G-H-A-N. Now, I had it legally changed in around 2008 to Meg, which I started going by in around 2002. Everyone I know who values their lives calls me Meg.

Well, thank you for asking. My late grandmother, who lived to 94, had a country twang, and she'd say it MAYYY-gin. I can't even imitate the way she'd butcher it, and I've tried--my vocal chords won't do it. I shudder just to remember. I came to hate my name, although I remained a good granddaughter, of course. She tried as hard as her memory would allow to call me Meg, so it worked out.

HA HA HA HA.... Hey! It costed, like, $40. We just had to go see a judge and I paid for it!

The funny thing was when the judge said, "Do the minor's parents approve?"

And my dad was like, "Yeah, we approve, but she's thirty years old, your Honor."

HA HA HA HA.... Yeah, it was a nice middle-class upbringing, interrupted by moments of horror and pathos. I have a lot of funny, ludicrous childhood memories, but none of them really involve my parents being lawyers.
