I really enjoy the Midnight Breed series - it's a combination urban fantasy/sci-fi/paranormal/erotic romance. I throw in paranormal because some think they are vampires, though they aren't really, at least not in the classic sense.

I hesitate to delve into specifics on the book I just finished, "Tempted By Midnight", as they would be spoilers for those who haven't read the earlier books. This book belongs in two series, with the 1001 Dark Nights series all being stand alone novellas in the sense that all of the books in that series are independent of the others, though they are likely numbered in other series - for example, book 1 of 1001 Dark Nights is also book 7.6 in Shayla Black's series.

"Tempted by Midnight" is book number 12.5 in the Midnight Breed series as well as book number 10 in the 1001 Dark Nights series, so...a short. I tend to dislike novellas and short stories as my preference tends to longer character development and world-building, however, since this is a series, the hero is already known to me from an earlier book and the world has already been built.

True love and happily ever after occurs again, more of the underlying story is unfolded, additional characters/future heroes are introduced. Broken warrior (in spirit) whose soul is mended by True Love, strong heroine who needs rescue.

Graphic sex and graphic violence in this book, as well as all the books in the series. Great action and extremely well written, it was a good read. I'm looking forward to the next one.
