The Only One by JF Holland

The book The Only One by JF Holland is a novel in the romance genre.

Blake is a young successful blue collar entrepreneur, who has a way with the women. He is completely content to live a single life but is starting to find that his relationships are not satisfying him any longer. He prides himself on keeping his work life and personal life separate outside of his personal assistant’s responsibilities.

Kitty is Blake’s personal assistant, who has to field Blake’s personal life. This has included managing phone calls and buying gifts Blake’s trail of women. Kitty is a woman who doesn’t trust easily and understands that men of Blake’s stature are dangerous to her. She’s been deceived in the past and has promised herself to never let that happen again.
Fairly early in the story, both Kitty and Blake start to notice little things about of each other even though Kitty has worked for Blake for the past two years. They are both individually distressed about these acknowledgements of their attraction to each other. Then because of a property acquisition Blake and Kitty go out to dinner together. This is where the sexual tension starts to truly heat up.

As a reader, you start to learn what makes Blake the person he is and what makes him tick. Kitty’s story takes longer to be brought to light but needless to say family, health, and past betrayals play a role. Blake’s biggest point won with Kitty is she gets a chill and he takes care of her. This confuses Blake because he’s never felt that need to take care of anyone in this way before and it strengthens Kitty’s trust to see a side of him she wasn’t sure even existed.

I don’t want to give too much away. This was a very enjoyable book that included a great amount of push and pulls tension between the two characters and trying to find what they didn’t know they were missing; trust, commitment, and a true companion. I read through this book very quickly as it held my attention beyond anything else that needed to be completed. The one flaw I had with the book was its timeline. There were moments that I would be confused about how we got to where we were only to realize a paragraph or so later that the author had fast forwarded with little or no warning. Despite that one flaw I would rate the book a 4 out of 4. I will be watching for book two in the series as I’m interested to see what kind of story development is in store for the secondary characters.

Wow, thank you, you just made my day, I wasn't sure if people would get how I write and I've also taken into account your recommendation on timelines. I apologise if my writing confused you on that score, I thought writing the info into the chapter would be enough so will add timelines to top of pages from now :) I hope you'll enjoy book 2 Rob and Alison's story (This Time) due out 23rd October and already on amazon for pre-order. After that there'll be another 2, but who knows if any other background characters speak to me ;) Thanks again (you wouldn't believe what a cheesy grin I'm sporting as I write this) julie xx
