You said it ... you'll be back in time for the budget anyway (something to look forward to eh?)
Yeah, cant wait for that, more taxes and cuts across all the poorest cross sections of society. But will those wasters in Leinster house give up their Mercs and junkets? My arse.

Ok so opinions people- how much do you think is a sufficient amount of spending money to bring for a 7day trip to New York? Keep in mind that i will be buying clothes, music, gifts, seeing the sights, taking in a show or two and seeing a few nice restaurants. The flights and hotel are paid for already, im just talking about the combined cost of food, tips, clothes, sightseeing fees, shows, travel on subway, taxis and gifts?

I reckon you need at least 2500dollars my brother reckons 1500dollars will cover it. So for any experienced United States dwellers or visitors, what do you think?

Haha, unless you're really planning on buying a lot and doing a ton, you'd be fine with $1500.

Or you could just split it and go $2000 flat.

Promise you'll get a kielbasa or a hot dog from a street corner vendor though!!!
I expect a picture of it!

And go around 5th ave or so, nicer area, cleaner hot dogs... Hahaha.
It's worth it!

But yeah, $2000 should be fine I think, I was fine there with it.

I am not good in terms of handling money because I splurge a lot whenever I see good gadgets at the mall or online.

Wow, I'm awful with money. So last year I was trying to save money to go to a concert and I left my money out so my little brother took 20 dollars. Then my parents paid me back cause they felt bad. Then after the concert I lost the back full of 100 dollars. Then my awesome sister found it! I got really lucky! So as you can see, I'm really bad with money. I'm saving for another concert again, wish me luck! I'll need it!

Being only 21 and got an early start on family I have become quite the stickler for saving money. Although when my husband and I have money to spend we will almost always put some of it away and splurge on the rest.

I'm good with money in general. However, I have consumer temptations like everyone else (resisting to them most of the times, just for the record). But I agree with you: always pay your rent and bills first. That the number one rule for a good economist.

As for keeping money under the bed. Unless I lived in a country with no TV, radio, newspaper, internet or people with a very poor memory, I wouldn't dare it. On the other hand, I think thieves no longer go straight to the bed these days anymore. Even the safe behind the painting is getting old-fashionable. So probably hiding money under the bed can be a fine option after all.

I have both high and somewhat low moments when it comes to money. My goal in life is to never be in debt, and so far, I've yet to come close to it. I can't handle the pressure of knowing that I owe any money, small or large sums, to any one person or company. The idea terrifies me so I avoid buying excessively at all costs. My husband and I are extremely determined to save for a dream house. I always carry that thought with me when I'm around temptations.

My husband is the breadwinner of our small family. I do what I can to contribute, but work can come and go pretty slowly for me. I put a lot of thought into everything I buy because I really do try my best to keep my personal savings at a decent amount. There are definitely times when I spend more than I should (those being my "low moments"), but I always go out of my way to get my bank account to where it had been-- for days or weeks after I experience the momentary weakness.

All in all, I think I do a pretty good job of handling money.

Invest your money. In something tangible(like land, grenades, grenade launchers,
and dysentery. Yes dysentery, somebody's got to buy all that Lomotil I scored from
some guy with Lehman Brothers, who really knows his sh*t).
