What is the rarest thing you had seen?

I saw a guy climb up a tall coconut tree to get us some fresh green coconuts. It was really amazing how he climbed so easily up the tree, barefoot. I even tried to climb after him, but only got a few steps before I gave up. What they do to the young tree sapling is that they cut notches in its side so that when it grows up the cuts will act as 'steps' and handholds.

Then they proceeded to cut the top of the green cocunut and give it to us to drink. The inside was filled with fizzy tasting water. As the coconut matures this is supposed to build up along the inside to give us the coconut we know.

Oh. By the way, this was when I was on holiday in India.

LOL - I remember opening a rotten coconut. Whew, that mistake stayed with me the whole day.

I remember when I was a teen, we were building a bonfire on a beach in Central California. It was well after sunset. The phosphorus in the water was high; so when the waves broke, a blue luminous glow followed the length of the beach. Small crustaceans that burrow under the wet sand, collected the phosphorus, and the glow would show through the sand as small blue pebbles – millions of them. It was a rare, beautiful evening that I can remember to this day.

When I was a kid living in northern Idaho, me and a friend were fooling around digging in a pile of dirt and found a scorpion. It was about 2 inches long. We told our parents and other people about it, even my 5th grade teacher and no one believed us. They all said we were seeing things, there are no scorpions in northern Idaho. But there was at least one.

We were going to catch it and put it in a bottle but it got away. Never did see any others. Lots of them here where I live now, I even found one in my bed.
