I read this book when I was 15 years old for the sole purpose of finding out what the big deal was about this book/movie. To this day (I am 39 now), this is by far my favorite book. I love all the historical "facts" intertwined into the story. It obviously has a romantic theme to it, but there is so much more to this book than just a love story between Rhett and Scarlett. It has several themes and subject matters, i.e. slavery, the civil war, the south vs. the north differences, economy differences between the north and the south, etc. If you have saw the movie, I still recommend reading the book because there are many differences between the book and the movie. As I write this review, I am thinking of re-reading the book myself. I enjoyed it so much as a young adult, I wonder how much more I will get out of the book as a 39 year old woman. Don't be intimidated or shy away from this book because of its length (I think it is way over 1,000 pages) because it reads fast and I remember not being able to put it down as a teenager. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys historical novels.
