Five years earlier, Dani and Alex met in Europe and started a two week love affair. They both understood that their relationship could only last a maximum of two weeks, perhaps even that long. Alex was in the military and at any time could be called to leave. However, that did not stop the two from spending every moment together during those two weeks. There was an instant attraction that neither could deny. When the two weeks came to an end, Alex left without a word. Five years later, Alex shows up in Harper Falls and shakes up Dani's life. There's still an undeniable attraction between the two but things can't go back to the way they were when they first met. Alex had definitely changed and now had demons he had to battle. He would need to work on dealing with his issues if there were ever going to be hope for a real relationship with Dani.

If Tomorrow Never Comes is the second book in the Harper Falls series. However, it would not be necessary to read the first book, as If Tomorrow Never Comes can easily be read as a standalone book. The author, Mary J Williams, did a wonderful job writing a beautiful and compelling romance novel. Unlike typical romance books, this one held elements of mystery, surprise, and suspense.

I thoroughly enjoyed If Tomorrow Never Comes. For me, I was interested as soon as I read the book description and was never disappointed. I'm a fan of stories where the characters are given a second chance together. I appreciated that the book starts out with Alex coming to town and seeing Dani before we are taken back to five years earlier to learn the back story on the couple. The main characters are extremely likable and well written. The witty and flirty banter between Dani and Alex is both amusing and delightful. Despite dealing with real and serious issues in this book, like PTSD, it was nice that there wasn't a whole lot of conflict between Dani and Alex. I enjoyed getting to see the couple get reacquainted and try to grow together.

The only negative comment I could give this book is that there were parts that I had a hard time believing would ever happen. For instance, it seems far stretched to imagine that Dani and Alex would have met in Europe five years earlier. Then after Alex gets out of the military he goes back to Dani's hometown because that's where his sister and friend lived. However, even though it seemed unlikely to me that something like that would actually happen, it still wasn't that hard to look past and enjoy the rest of the book.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone like myself who enjoys a beautiful romance book with a touch of suspense. I would give this If Tomorrow Never Comes 3 out of 4 stars. The only reason I wouldn't give it a complete 4 star review would be because of the unrealistic meeting of Dani and Alex.

Sounds like an enjoyable story. It was very smart of Mary J Williams to make it a standalone book despite being the second in a series. I think I would like this story.

Thank you. I love to have characters carry over from book to book. It's fun to reconnect. But I want all the stories to be their own journey.

That was a great review, I can't wait to read the book. I feel all the books I have read lately are the same old story and I have the ending figured out before I finish. Thank you and Congratulations Mary!

Thank you, Kinterlichia11. My books are a part of me. Feedback is so important and I take the good and the bad with equal gratitude if it is given sincerely. I will admit, I'm happier when I get a pat on the back instead of a kick in the pants. I hope you enjoy the book. I would love to know what you think.
