The book Undercover Vixen: The billionaire’s Mistress is the first book in a three book series. It is a very short read, consisting of 6 chapters and a total of 55 pages. The basic synopsis is an average girl meets a billionaire at a coffee shop and like all such stories, the rest is history. The author of this book is an amateur writer embarking on her first novel. It appears to be an attempt to create a story like 50 Shades of Grey but with very minimal details. She does get detailed during the personal bedroom scenes.

Being the first book in a series, the author doesn’t do much to introduce the characters. We do learn that Sasha, the main character, has remained celibate for some time. It explains in general terms why but gives no indication as to why Xavier, the billionaire, made her change her mind in regards to this decision. There isn’t much of a story line. The book starts and ends before you get to know the characters or a story line truly develops.

If this is what to be expected of the next two books in the series, I do not believe I will pre-order or be waiting for the release. I think the author would have done the characters more justice by writing one nice novel instead of trying to embark on a series for their first attempt at writing a book. Will the next book continue with these characters? Will it pick up the story line where it left off? How did the date go between Sasha and Xavier? The book literally ends with the two main characters leaving for their first date.

The editing is atrocious, if any was done at all; it was hard to read at times and made me cringe. Some of the language/slang and descriptive words were not becoming. I should have gathered as much based on the fact that “billionaire” was not capitalized in the title of the book.

I have a very hard time recommending this book to anyone regardless of the type of genre you enjoy reading. I give Undercover Vixen: The billionaire’s Mistress 1 out of 4 stars as I don’t feel it should be classified as a novel, book, short story, etc. This could be considered a rough draft/outline if there is more of a story added. I do hope the author takes the criticism I have provided and works to improve this book before continuing with the series. This in no way is intended to deter the individual from pursuing writing.
