What's your dream? What's your NY resolution?

Post by Scott »

This is a discussion to go along with my new short book Achieve Your Dreams.

What's your dream? What shorter-term goals do you have on your way towards your dreams?

Do you have any New Years Resolutions?

Seriously, post your answers as replies!

Hopefully, we can not only all share our dreams, goals, resolutions but also help each other stay motivated and committed to each of our goals and resolutions. :)

[Related Topic ~ If you have already downloaded Achieve Your Dreams, please also post a reply in this other topic letting me know so I can personally say thank you. And if you give it a 5-star review on Amazon, I'll include a dancing banana! ]

One among my goals is reading 52 books this coming year with their review posted here.

I don't do New Year's resolutions; if I notice something I want to change about my life, I resolve to do it right away!

I'd also say I'm currently living my dream - balancing family life, work, and creative pursuits.

My shorter-term goal is to complete the book that I'm currently writing, which is the second in a series.

I do not set New Year Resolutions, but I do make goals each year. I am again shooting to read 40 books in 2016 and I do resolve to do more reviews. I reviewed 3 books today on Amazon, so I need to continue the habit and paste the reviews here as well.

I don't do the whole New Year's Resolution thing. Statistically I know if I rely on it, it's going to not work out. Instead I work on goals as they come. Currently, I'm working on trying to start my own editing freelance business. I've done a ton of freelance writing in the past and have worked as a blogger for an advertising agency. Now I just want to find some way to do it on my own. I need something that will allow me the opportunity to be home and spend time with my son. So, it's a dream of mine to find some way to make it work.

Well as a New Years Resolution my family and I plan to start writing down every single thing we do in 2016 that is special, or fun or something we liked. We then put it in a jar and keep filling the jar until the end of 2016 which then we open it up and read them all. Or if we are feeling sad, we can just open the jar and read one, then put it back in the jar. :)

As well I plan to take that one step up the staircase and commit myself to writing at least two poems every week as well as creating at least 2 doodles/drawings every week. I also plan to try and be more happy.

My biggest dream is to become an illustrator or concept artist (:

My goals this year are just to get a graphics tablet to help with that^, get into a good art school, lose some weight, and read lots of books!

My current resolution is to finish the book that I'm writing, and look for some Beta readers to know the feedback.

My goals for this year, spend at least one hour daily, despite my busy schedule to reading... and also find some time to promote the books that I've written so far!

There are lots of goals! Thank you everyone for sharing. It's great to see so much positive motivated energy. It's contagious.

@bigirimanacelestin that's an ambitious reading goal. I'm sure you can do it. :) Have you already added the goal on Bookshelves?

@katiesquilts I'm glad to be a reminder. Please let me know if and when you decide on some goals/resolutions. I hope we can help each other.

@mcousins2008 Thanks for downloading! Let me know how you like it.

@dwc Good luck with your reading goal of 40 books and doing more reviews! Have you already set your reading goal in Bookshelves?

@ccrogers Balancing family life, work, and creative pursuits is no easy task, so congratulations! That a good reason to smile (in your avatar) :D

@ktwigg Your situation is very similar to mine. I have to work from home with my kids too. I cannot promise I'm some expert on your issues, but if you need someone to bounce ideas off of ever please feel free to use me and I'll try to give the best advice I have.

@rssllue Great attitude, Beardmaster! Why wait, start now! :D Unrelated, thank you for your help with Bookshelves and this forum community.

@SatsukiNoKimi That's such a wonderful idea to do with your family. It's heartwarming. Two poems and two drawaings a week is a great step!

@katelacecarter Those are great goals. I'm sure you can hit them all! Maybe you could make illustrations for OnlineBookClub.org or book covers for me or some of the authors here.

@lathish one hour a day is doable and will add up. I'm sure some of our reviewers from our team would be happy to be beta readers for you :)

Needless to say, a big part of my plans and goals right now involves making this book Achieve Your Dreams a success. It's already #312 of the roughly estimating 100,000 free books on Amazon. There's only a few days left in this free promotion.

If you read it already and like the book, please leave that wonderful 5-star review on the Amazon page.

Also, if you are on Facebook or Twitter, please connect with me and like/share/comment/retweet my posts about the book so we can reach even more new people. But then don't stay there. Come back to OnlineBooKClub.org because this community and all of you are so awesome!!!

I dream of a life without student loans.
I dream of a life without a life of debt.
I dream of a life where I can make christmas dinner
And not worry about cutting the best parts out.
I dream of a life where a paycheck is an added bonus.
I dream of a life when money doesn't run the show but happiness does.
I'm slowly achieving it, and it's worth every debt
