Re: Bookmarks

I use almost anything as thin as paper around me if I can't find my paper book marks. I have even ripped a piece of toilet paper off and used that or tissue . ( I keep them beside me in case of a book that will bring tears). I can never bring myself to bend a page it frustrates me when pages of a book are ruined.

I like to make my own out of greeting/ birthday cards. If they have a pretty photo/scenery background, I'll cut them into 2" strips. They're original, one of a kind, n useful. ;)

I just love all kind of bookmarks. My personal favourites are the magnetic ones - because they don't fall off. I have many cross-stitched ones too, made by me, or gifted by friends. With some crafty friends we used to have many bookmark exchanges. I also love using beautiful postcards. My favourtie one is with Mucha pictures - I love his art.

My current most precious bookmark was the one I got as a Nano donor, but in the end I gave it away. I wanted to cheer up a friend who was so close to winning and motivate her for the next one.

And still, with so many pretty bookmarks, I often end up marking my page with a bus ticket, lol!

I normally turn down the pages (sorry...) as lightly as possible or use any scrap paper I have around at the time. I'd use a bookmark but I'd lose them straight away. I might get one with a saying on it or something.

You may want to try the magnetic bookmarks or the ones shaped as a paper clip. They have a pretty strong hold on the pages. When I carry a book in my purse, I try to choose one of those types. I hate it when I take the book out only to find that the mark has slipped and I've lost my page

Lately I've been switching between my favorite two, the one is wooden with an intricate pattern carved into it from a Frank Lloyd Wright house gift shop, the other is white with a blue and purple interweaving quote from The Shadow of the Wind "Every book, every volume you see here, has a soul. The soul of the person who wrote it and of those who read it and lived & dreamed with it. Every time a book changes hands, every time someone runs his eyes down its pages, its spirit grows and strengthens."

I also like the magnetic ones and have a couple cute ones I use from time to time. :-)

My aunt introduced me to the magnetic bookmarks. She sent one to me in my birthday card a while back and I have really grown to love them. They have many uses. I even use them in the checkbook register to mark my pages there. They stay put and don't fall out even when being tossed back and forth between my purse and book bag. I just love them. I have also used the plastic coated paperclips in a pinch too but they do come out in your purse or book bag.

I usually use a small post it note. I not only able to mark the page I am on, but if I need to stop in the middle of a chapter, I can mark the paragraph as well.

Post it notes usually. However if the book it's good enough, I've been known to read the entire thing by pulling an all nighter.

Same. I have a pad of sticky notes that are used for bookmarks, since they have a cute design. I also use paint chips if the book is a hardcover.

I've used everything from receipts to scones. Yes, in an emergency, I used a freshly baked scone. Needless to say, that was a crummy bookmark. ;)

I have a bunch of different bookmarks I have collected throughout the years and others have given me. But if I happen to start a book without having a book mark I will use whatever I have on hand like a card, a receipt, or random piece of paper. Typically something that does not appeal to the cat or he will be a jerk and take the bookmark out of my book.

Am I the only one who tabs the page? Or I'll mark the page by closing my book light into it.

I have a lord of the rings bookmark I got in 2001. It was the first time I saw Orlando bloom and started my crush at the ripe age of 11. I also have a bookmark my grandmother used before she passed away. I also have a gnome bookmark that I love because it is my traveling gnome. I take it with me and my book when I got to new places and take pictures of him there :)
