I never use bookmarks. I always dog ear the page. You can look at any of my books and tell how quickly and how often I've read it

Usually, I will use a real bookmark for books I am reading for fun and colorful paperclips and post-it notes for textbooks. On occasion I'll use an index card if I'm using it to take notes. Much of what I read is in e-book format though, so unfortunately no bookmarks for those.

For those who like nice bookmarks, but are always losing them, you can get booklets of bookmarks published by Dover for a couple dollars in the U.S. I recently bought a booklet of 12 flower fairy bookmarks and they are really pretty.

I use pretty much anything I can find. Sometimes its a pen, a candy wrapper, a piece of random paper. Today it is a piece of Monopoly money my niece left laying around.

I only use a bookmark if a book has 500+ pages. Am I the only one who uses clothing labels as bookmarks? :)

I have a Doctor Who one that says "Trust Me, I'm The Doctor" and I love it! If I don't have it I will just dog-ear whatever page I'm on.

I found these book arrows when in college to use to keep important pages easily accessible. They are a lot like paper clips, but are made of plastic in all different colors. Now that I'm out I use them to mark the page and line I stopped on. I love that they point me right where I left off and don't have to remember "was it the left or right page I stop on". If I don't have one around I use whatever.

I don't buy bookmarks anymore because I can never keep track of them. I use receipts and random pieces of paper. :techie-studyingbrown:

I used to make bookmarks from pretty scrapbook paper. It's cheap and cute. More recently I'm loving the magnetic page clips. I have a cute set of 4 from Barnes and Noble. Little fruits with faces. They are getting worn out already. I'll have to buy more soon!

When I was little I used to have all kinds of bookmarks because people insisted on giving them to me as gifts. Now though I only have one that I use. Its absolutely beautiful and fair trade from Africa. I've had it for years now. If I'm not using that I'll just use whatever I can find to mark my place. I won't buy bookmarks anymore, it's a waste of money.

Honestly, I usually use a post-it note. I have some nice bookmarks that I got for Christmas, but I don't want to lose them because they're metal and collectible per the theme. I don't like bending my pages because it ruins my books so I just grab either a piece of paper or a post-it and slide it either above or below the paragraph I ended on in the book and close it. That way if it were to get ruined or lost, I haven't got any reason to be upset. I just find my spot again and continue.

I have a very nice leather bookmark that is currently sitting in a book on my self that i wasn't interested in reading at the time. So at the moment i just use whatever is around; paper, clothing tags, loose ribbon whatever is handy and wont bend the pages.

I used to use bookmarks all the time when I was in elementary school. I used to always collect them because they always handed them out during class. I don't really use them much anymore though.
