Site questions I don't know where else to put

Post by mellysw »

I would think there are other threads addressing these questions, but I haven't found them yet.

1-In regards to the reviews, are swear words permitted? Or are they permitted but discouraged? Are are they permitted but please dear god use common sense? :)

2-I understand a wait time before you see books you can review. My question is how often books are added to the list. I know I simply may not be able to see any that are available yet because I am new to the site. I am just wondering if there are always books available (to someone at least!), or if books are added once a week, or if it is very hit and miss.

3-In the review, are we required to mention we got the book for free, or were paid if we were?

Please check out this page for information:

REVIEW TEAM AND REVIEW REQUEST ISSUES - Read this first

Regarding your questions:

1. Swear words are discouraged. One should be able to express his opinion without the need to resort to cursing, profanity or abuse.

2. Sometimes there aren't enough books available for review. It depends on demand. Books can be added every day, every few days or once a week.

3. In the review there is no need to mention that you have got the book for free . Also, you shouldn't mention that you were paid for it.

I hope I answered all your questions. 8)

You did! I was worried my post would get buried since this is a pretty fast moving board.

Thank you again for your quick - and excellent - response!

Hopefully someone can help me with this. When I add a book to my 1, 2, 3, or 4 star shelf which I have read in the past, it is also added to my reading goal for the year. How can I prevent this from happening????

And also how do you remove a book from shelf or can you change shelves? For instance if you've spelled the name of a book wrong or just want to change its rating?

I think I can help 8)

Any book added will count toward your reading goal, but you have the option to change the date read, so if you change it to last year it will keep your reading goal currant, and accurate! (I just had to do this myself :shhh: )
To change it simply go to the books page, up on the header for the book (where the shelf placement info is) it will say when you "read" the book, and there's a button that says change. Simply click on that and it will load another page for to enter a new "read" date.

As for changing shelves, you can do that on the books page, or from your shelves, by using the edit mode.
On the books page you click on the bar that lists what shelf it's on and it will show the other options, click one and hit add to shelf.
Books can be removed the same way.

Misspelled books should be reported so a bookshelf moderator can fix it for you. There's a report button on the lower portion of the books page (just above the list of users).

I hope that helps!
