I love classics!! Particularly fond of Lucky Jim (Kingsley Amis), Emma (Jane Austen), To Kill a Mockingbird (Harper Lee), Brideshead Revisited (Evelyn Waugh), Jude the Obscure (Thomas Hardy), 1984 (George Orwell), The Picture of Dorian Grey (Oscar Wilde) and Wuthering Heights (Emily Bronte).

What is your favorite classic novel and why?
Also when did you read it for the first time - were you a child, teenager, or an adult?

Having just finished reading it last night I would have to say "Anna Karenina". One of the best novels I have ever read. There are a couple of others that I also love. "War and Peace", "The Count of Monte Cristo", "A Tale of Two Cities" and "Great Expectations".

I have to watch the movie now. There are two that I want to see. The most recent with Keira Knightley as Anna and an older film with Sean Bean as Vronsky.

I watched the movie with Keira Knightly and I enjoyed it. The costumes and set were very impressive. I never heard about the one with Sean Bean but now I'll add it to my list of movies to watch.

My favorite classical book is Jane Eyre. I first read it when I was 12. I have re-read it probably 10 or more times over the years. I listen to it on audio every once in a while also. I certainly related to the young Jane when I was her age. No other 19th century book has captured my imagination quite like this book.

Jane Eyre is also my all time favorite book of any genre, after Gone With the Wind
