Alpha Unit Series by Caitlin Tull (spoilers included)
The first book showed promise and captured my attention. Granted I do easily fall in love with characters and found myself sympathizing with Zoe Parker within the first few chapters. If Zoe didn’t have bad luck she wouldn’t have any luck at all. Her luck seems to change when Calvin (her high school crush) finally notices her, but even with Calvin in her life she is still a magnet for disaster. The second and third book were very similar to the first, full of drama and bad dialect to the point it was unbelievable.
My favorite character in the entire series was Grams. She is a strong willed black lady in the south who takes crap from no one and has a huge heart. She remind me a lot, of some the elderly ladies I grew up around.

I tend to enjoy books written with a strong dialect like Tillie Olsen's writings. They definitely take a little getting used to when you start but give so much more feeling once you do. Granted its not always a good feeling.
