My Forever by Sarah McLendon is a Christian romance. Savannah James is completely alone and feels as though her life will remain dismal for a very long time. She is struggling with the loss of her mother to a long battle with cancer and falls into a monotonous daily routine. There is one bright spot in her life, he is a gorgeous nurse at her hospital named Carter. She only enjoys him from a distance as she is convinced he doesn’t know she exists. That is until a staff meeting where a co-worker inappropriately reveals a secret Savannah has kept hidden. Savannah, embarrassed, runs away from the meeting only to have Carter follow her to make sure she is okay.
Savannah and Carter’s relationship blossoms from that day as they slowly get to know each other. Carter is her perfect man, and Savannah tries her hardest not to get too close. She’s scared that Carter will leave her like her mother did. But despite her best efforts Carter wins her heart, as he is always there when she needs him and is a perfect gentleman in all the right ways. Just when she thinks her forever may actually come true, something horrible happens. Will she actually be able to get what she has always dreamed of having?
This book reads similar to a journal, as it would be written by Savannah about her life and daily struggles. She journeys through learning how to deal with the grief that surrounds the death of her mother. I enjoyed the development of the relationship between Savannah and Carter. It made me, as the reader; believe that chivalry is not dead.
I was somewhat bothered by the story having a predictable set of events that unfold throughout the majority of the book. At time it felt like a typical romance where the characters meet, fall in love and live happily ever after. However, this did not detract from the storyline too much. It is an uplifting, clean, feel good romance.
I give this book a 2 out of 4 stars. It feels very amateur, and there are quite a few (about 20) typos and misspellings throughout the book. I had hope as I continued to read that the author would have included a little more excitement, as I enjoy a good suspense. Overall, this was an all-around uplifting and good book. I would recommend this book to those looking for a feel good, short and easy read.
