MICHAEL'S ANGEL, Book 2 of the Friendship Heirlooms Series b

Post by Birdlady1950 »

They ran from evil, horror, and murder. They ran until they reached Peaceful; will evil stalk them again in this quaint little town? Have they run far enough and fast enough to out run Sam Oligee, evil incarnate? This book will keep you up long into the night reading!

STORY LINE:

Michael Fremont's mother killed herself in front of him, forcing him into the foster care system. Abused physically and emotionally, his only saving grace is meeting the shy, insecure LeeAnn Wagner; she is his angel. LeeAnn has spent her life on the run with her mother, now Sam Oligee, the reason they ran, has finally found them and he is ready to kill.

Michael will do anything to protect LeeAnn, his angel, including running away with her after her father kills her mother and promises to kill her as well. They settle in Peaceful, but this is just the beginning of this spine tingling book.

Come along with LeeAnn and Michael as they travel a very hard road of insecurity, evil, death, and final resolutions.

CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, AND DEVELOPMENT:

This is a roller coaster ride from start to finish as Ms. Wiesner infused this book with mystery, suspense, and evil at its best. The plot is excellent; Ms. Wiesner gives you hints in the story-line but does not reveal the truth until necessary to the story, keeping you intrigued until the end of this book. Ms. Wiesner kept the tension, suspense, and mystery at high peak with gradual revelations, which are surprising and amazing.

The pacing of the book was excellent as it never lags and will keep you glued to the book anxious to see what will happen next. I did not want to put this book down! As I finished the book, I was sorry to say goodbye to LeeAnn and Michael and did so reluctantly.

Author Karen Wiesner's story-telling skills are evident in this book as she weaves the many threads in the story-line together to form a suspenseful and faith-based story. Her writing style is clear and easy to read. Faith plays a large part in this book, but is not pushy nor forced upon the reader, rather it is part of the characters personal beliefs and way of life.

LeeAnn and Michael's characters were masterfully developed by Ms. Wiesner. It was amazing to watch LeeAnn and Michael's growth in this book as they develop from insecure clinging teenagers to mature adults. LeeAnn and Michael's portrayals are very real and human with all our human faults, failures, insecurities, and misconceptions.

The interaction between LeeAnn and Michael was well done; at times I wanted to shake both of them. I watched them grow-up, resolve their Christian beliefs with their emotional ties of desire and love, and define their relationship.

The secondary characters add depth to this story as well as guidance for LeeAnn and Michael. The villain of this book, Samson Oligee, was a great character revealing true evil and patience resided within him as Ms. Wiesner skillfully wove the story around him. He gave me chills.

RECOMMENDATION: 5 STARS

Ms. Wiesner has crafted another winner. This is a well-written, paced, and developed book with an intriguing story-line. It is a clean read but does contain violence and mental illness. I recommend this book for young adults and adults.

I received this book from the author and The Romance Reviews in return for an honest book review. Book reviews of any novel are dependent on the book review author’s opinion; all book reviews on line under my name and on my blog are my opinion.

Thank you for the great review! It sounds like an interesting book. Thank you for the honest description of the role faith plays in the book. I recently finished reading a book in which the author was a bit pushy regarding her faith, and it was a bit of a turnoff even though I enjoyed the story otherwise. I will be adding this book to my bookshelves.
