To Sleep or Not to Sleep?

Post by MystiB84 »

I try to read every chance I get, any spare moment I can find whether it be waiting for a Dr at an appt, break at work, or waiting for bed time to hit. Sometimes I can read for HOURS and look up only to realize it is 4 am and I should have gone to sleep 4 chapters ago..other times I can be reading and wake up to find the book on my lap...or my face and I have dozed off and lost my place.

What makes the difference for you? Do you stay awake all night reading a book regardless of its genre or what you have done that day, or do books always relax you to allow you to doze off and dream of the characters you are reading about?

It is hit or miss for me. Sometimes I am on through the night and others I am out like a light. It doesn't really seem to matter which genre either.

I spend a lot of time reading at night, but I try to read on the couch and not in bed. If I read in bed then I can force myself to stay awake despite how comfortable I am, but if I am on the couch then as soon as my eyes start drooping enough to interfere with my reading, I can tell myself that it'd time to go to bed and I'm out like a light!
