I wasn't really a reader. I always read books that I had to for school. It was just something you had to do. Until the Summer before six grade when I found my older sister's copy of Harper Lee's "To Kill a Mockingbird" and discovered a book that I truly loved. It more or less opened the floodgates. Our school had a fairly decent library and I became friends with the librarian a very nice lady by the name of Mrs. Whalen who volunteered at our school three times per week. She was an avid reader who introduced me to many books of all types. I've loved to read ever since.

Yes even before I knew how to read I was a "reader". My parents would read to me and I loved audio books!

I always had a love for writing, which helped my interest in reading. In elementary school, I was not a huge reader. Once I started writing poetry in middle school, I picked up a lot of poetry books. In my senior year, I began writing my first novel, which pushed me to read more books. My English teacher told me I couldn't be a writer without being a reader. I truly believe that!

I have been an avid reader since I learned how to read. My fave books in grade school were all the books about myths from different countries. Absolutely loved them. My fave regular book from childhood is Island of the Blue Dolphins. My daughter read that a couple years ago and I had to read it again.

I've been a reader since I was 3 and begged my mom, who was teaching my older sister, to teach me too. She always said that of we could read, we could learn anything we wanted to. Since then I always have a book nearby, carry one with me. :)

Yes! Ever since I was a child, I would read small books like The Ugly Ducklings and The Little Mermaid and I loved them! I used to reread them so often since I was not yet a book hoarder then. Haha!

I was always a reader, thanks to my parents. Both my mom and my dad regularly sat in their recliners to read in the evenings while my brothers and I ran around the house in a wild commotion. However, once I started in on chapter books as a pre-teen, I found myself joining the family reading circle. I would lay on the couch or floor, while one or both of my folks read. It was a always a nice, quiet way to end a day.

I have always been a reader, since kindergarten really, one of those kids who always had to be told to put down their book. Though I've definitely evolved over the years (and I don't just mean moving from the things I read in kindergarten to the things I read as an adult). I definitely went through phases where I'd only read one genre, like mystery novels, and then I'd only read things I thought I was supposed to be reading to be considered serious/intellectual.

Now I strive for balance and enjoyment, instead of looking for others' good opinions :) Life's too short to read books you don't enjoy and I know I have a reading list that I'll never finish-- a thought that's both daunting and exciting.

Yes, I have always been a reader. I remember being younger and the enjoyment of getting lost in a book. As I got older and had a family, it seems more difficult to do. However, now that my kids are getting a but older I have found more time to curl up with a book and get lost again.

I did not enjoy reading when younger; but since turning 40 have enjoyed reading.
Like crime and mystery books; but lately have enjoyed murder books with a theme eg a donut shop

My favorite Aunt is the person that started me as a reader in my teenage years. She always had great books that interested me.

I was not always a reader. I haven't really gotten into reading until two years ago! I remember having to read books for school and then doing the project based off the title. I was not the brightest kid, but now things has changed thankfully. Now I spend a lot of my time reading and building a book collection.

Not until maybe the 7th grade. My first series I ever read was "the cirque de freak" by Darren Shan
