Oh my goodness!! I am kind of torn between reading this book and not because of the abuse, however the hopeless romantic side of me is interested in the love story you talked about. I am curious about how Mr. Golvach views love from a mans point of view. Makes me very interested in it!!!!!

So I am currently reading this book and I must say, it is tough to get through. The abuse in this story is a lot more graphic and disturbing than I anticipated. I took caution reading your review, but I think underestimated the intensity of what I would be reading (even though you gave a straight forward and solid warning to readers). I am half way through and am so curious how Golvach is going to turn this book around. It's also a weird love story of sorts. I'm having trouble figuring out Mandi as a character. I feel her character would be COMPLETELY different due to her experiences and trauma and a love story with her would be wouldn't be what it is. It would be almost opposite. I don't want to give anything away, but this book definitely has me for a loop. I'm going to stick with it and maybe I will be able to enjoy it as I get through the second half. It's just so violent! I'll let you know what I think when I am done reading it. Hopefully in a few days!

Ah, I'm glad you could back me up on that. I thought maybe I was being too sensitive, but I'm not. Right? It's super intense. Even the "love" scenes are bloody and a bit disturbing. Yet I couldn't look away. Hahaha.

Not too sensitive at all! You're right about the "love" scenes as well! I honestly don't think anyone will understand the severity of the abuse until they read it. No amount of disclaiming can prepare someone properly who wants to read this book.

Sounds interesting, though I am not sure if it is for me due to the abundant graphic scenes.

Congratulations to the author on the positive review and on being Book of the Day! :tiphat:

Thanks for your review. The info about the graphic content is important to me too, as some of what you said is in the book is touchy to me. But will consider it

Of course you're special (even if your reviews are not BOTD)!

So, I'm reading your review again and the comments another user has made who is currently reading the book has me a little worried about the content. I was excited about the discount, but I'm afraid a lot graphic content can be too much for me, too. :?

Thanks to everyone for their replies, comments and support :) I'm really very appreciative of it all.
Today, for some reason, I'm a little backed up on properly replying to people, but I'm getting there... I think ;)

Thanks :)

Hi there,

Just feel I should write this. It's not a criticism, but just for explanation.

Missing Pieces DOES deal with disturbing subject matter, but there's nothing in it that doesn't need to be. It was my intent to not go over the top, while at the same time not dishonouring the subject matter by describing it in such a way that it became cartoonish.

That being said, we all have different limits. What's tolerable to me may be too much for you.

No judgement being doled out here. Just a little explanation. The last thing I want is for anyone to think this book is about "Shock Value" and not about story.

Thanks :)

Seems like a book that many people would enjoy. Horror and romance combined is a great combination. Awesome review, by the way!
