Ghost (Lost Gun 1) is a romance book and the first in the Lost Gun series written by Lindsey Elyse. Though the genre is romance, Elyse does an excellent job of intertwining a lot of action, mystery, and drama throughout the book that is sure to keep its readers entertained. The way that Lindsey was able to write a love story with so much substance is what I loved most about the book. It kept me engaged the whole time, and kept me wanting more.
Ghost (Lost Gun 1) pulls you into the main character’s world and shows you the dark side to being a hitman. The main character, known as Ghost, is one that you find yourself hating to love. He is cold, and heartless with only killing on the mind. Being a famous hitman in a town run by crime, Ghost is hired to kill Anna the daughter of the most powerful man in the town which begins a war of territory between the crime families of the town. From the moment he sees Anna he is hooked, and instead of killing her opts to kidnap her instead. Ghost makes it seem as he completed his task, starts the war between families, and finds himself caught in the middle of it. Throughout the book Ghost is fighting with himself to remain the cold, heartless killer he was made to be, and to not give into his hearts desires.
Ghost (Lost Gun 1) is sure to take you on an emotional rollercoaster wanting to know what happens next. There are many twists and surprises that are delightfully unpredictable. Ghost (Lost Gun 1) is different from all the other romance books out there because there is more than a love story going on. There is hate, deceit, exciting gun fights, and tear jerking moments. Though it is odd how the love between Anna and Ghost happens, by the end of the book it proves to be the love that all are longing for.
While reading Ghost (Lost Gun 1) there are times when the dialogue between characters is confusing, and you find yourself re-reading to see whom is speaking. There are also points in the book that do not seem logical, but it does not take away from the entertainment factor. If you are someone that is interested only in the love story of romance books, then this book may not be for you. Ghost (Lost Gun 1) takes you through the love story, but sets it up for you, so you understand the way that Ghost loves.
Though Ghost (Lost Gun 1) has a great love story it also has a lot of violence. The violence does not overshadow the love, but rather gives the reader a view into the world of what it is like to be a hitman. For these reasons I give the book a 3 out of 4 stars. It had its flaws, but also kept me engaged and wanting more. I definitely cannot wait for the next book in the series to come out.
